After three and half weeks of practice, the Flames are set to wrap up their spring football workouts when Liberty hosts its annual spring game on Saturday. The game is free of charge and kickoff is set for 1 p.m., culminating a full slate of pregame festivities around Williams Stadium.
Leading to the annual intrasquad scrimmage are a wide array of activities, beginning with tailgating in the parking lots adjacent to the South Gate at Williams Stadium. The parking lots will be open at 9 a.m. for tailgating, as well as Grand Opening activities for the new Liberty Bookstore in the same parking lot.
At 10 a.m., the Liberty Bookstore will have its official Grand Opening, including a ribbon cutting ceremony outside the main entrance to the Jeffersonian-style building.
Roughly 90 minutes later, the festivities will move inside Williams Stadium, leading to the annual spring game. The Flames Kidz Zone will open at 11:30 a.m., to children of all ages, while a special gathering is scheduled for Flames Kids Club members.
At Noon, lunch will begin to be served by LU Dining free of charge to students on Liberty’s meal plan, while the same box lunch will also be available for $5 to all other guests.
The Flames Club will be opening its pregame tent at Noon, where they will be serving a pregame meal to its members. The booster club organization will also be opening its membership drive for the upcoming 2009-10 campaign during this time.
The final pregame activity is slated for 12:30 p.m., where senior members of the Flames 2008 Big South championship squad will be signing autographs in the midway area.
