This game is the weekend following the big game for CSU at Mile High Stadium against the hated Colorado State somethings. That one should be a real hoot. Colorado is not a place to go if you want to see good college football at any level.
CSU would be a better fit in the MVFC than say Northern Colorado but the Rams would not win the conference often if ever, even with their scholarship advantage. They just aren’t very good at football. They spend over the MWC median but always under the FBS median. They don’t get a lot of bang for their football buck spending a lot of time at the bottom of the heap.
Last season the Rams finished 2-9 losing their last 5. Somehow they beat Arkansas and New Mexico. Illinois State rolled them 35-19.
Tickets for this game are available starting at $15. The Fort is a real football outpost I guess. But hey, they start at $11 for the Utah Aggies game.

The LEATHERNECKS have permission to use the name from the USMC. It’s a proud name. They have a proud tradition in football. Pride is something the U of Co knows nothing about. A good lesson in pride from the Leathernecks is in order and would be a welcome sight for many. I’m sure the USMC is watching this one especially in light of the terrible disrespect for our country coming from that sewer. That helps make it interesting. It’s only football but I like it.
Unfortunately WIU is located in a terribly managed bankrupt and failed liberal state.
Since 2015 when they were spending at the FCS median in football it has now dropped to about 75% of median. The shrinking budget is a worry but WIU has been very good at squeezing value out of their dollars.
Last Season the Leathernecks finished 5-6. They showed some good football losing to Illinois State 33-16 but beating University of Montana and UNI.
The RAMS look stout on defensive but simply allowed too many points. For every point the Leathernecks scored they gave-up 1.09. That means some close games and hard fought wins. We saw that last year but it’s tough to have a great season that way.
On the other hand, the Rams give up 1.61 for every point they score.
The key for the Leathernecks is to maintain their stout defense.
The Rams only picked up 106 yard rushing/game last season but their passing game is a threat. WIU will have to contain or slow that aspect of the Rams game down and keep their typically tough run defense together and this game could pan out like indicated by the GAM.
Again this is based on the cumulative performance of last years teams. CSU is no powerhouse and nobody is Las Vegas is going to mistake them for one but the FBS/FCS matchup might lead to some attractive point spreads making WIU a good pick if you have a car payment coming up. We will keep you posted.

Wow. Given the typical "even" spread giving a "home field advantage" of a FG, this is saying that WIU is expected to win outright. I just LOVE FCS wins over FBS teams....

Why would you give Colorado a home field advantage? They won a single game at home last year.

Thanks for the link Beardown. You make sense.
Colorado is a liberal hell hole too. I still enjoy college football but no longer support my alma-mater. In fact, I want money back from them and have been seeking it’s return for over a year.
The claim is the university no longer represents the values that originally inspired the gifts but they continue to claim they do. Unfortunately for the university evidence of my claim is so obvious they really have no way of defending themselves except hypocritical dishonesty. It has decoupled from the communities it once served.
I urge everyone that feels the same about their alma mater do the like-wise. If nothing else they will be getting the message.
With that in mind I do hope the Leathernecks put a beat down on the nancy boys from Colorado. On paper it’s an even match.

Why do people think speech restrictions are liberal? Weed legalization is liberal. America was founded on liberalism. But restrictions on speech are not liberal.

Actually, Colorado won FOUR home games last year. But Colorado isn't playing in this game.JBB wrote:Why would you give Colorado a home field advantage? They won a single game at home last year.
Colorado STATE actually won TWO home games last year. Given that they were against Arkansas and New Mexico (admittedly both struggling teams as well, but both clearly FBS, though UNM DID also lose to transitioning Liberty and gave up >50 in the process), I could see giving CSU the standard "even" FG home field advantage.
That said, WIU WOULD have at least a puncher's chance to win this game outright....

Scalp maybe... give a margin of a TD or so.
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Here is ESPNs take on the game. They give The Leathernecks a 21% chance of winning. Good sign for the odds.
https://www.espn.com/college-football/g ... =401117498
Attendance will probably be under 20,000.
https://csurams.com/cumestats.aspx?path ... &year=2018
I see they play University of Colorado the week before the Leathernecks not after.

What will they do with it. Nothing. It will be like California. The perfect liberal paradise. You have the liberal rich supported by the poor with filth and squalor creeping in. high taxes, welfare, welfare, welfare, and lots and lots of corruption. No middle class. Just legalized discrimination based on income and race.kalm wrote:What will they do with it once it fails?Beardown wrote:

The great replacement includes soccer for football, deplatforming conservatives, filtering the news etc. it’s all liberal. The weed thing is a common cause not common core.
Losing key players is a factor. Early season games are hard to predict. Even the same players can come out the following year with different attitudes. We don’t like to put money down this early because of that.
With these games we like to look for miss-pricing. The granddaddy of them all was NDSU +45 against a gopher team they beat. We are keeping an eye on the odds. Things can change fast game week.
This is an interesting upset pick. It promises a good football game. Even with all their advantages the Colorado squad is nothing but a competitive MVFC team.

Re: WIU LEATHERNECKS* @ CSU RAMS
It keeps getting better for the Leathernecks but a little tougher to take them and give pts. 24.5 pt favorites against North Alabama now. You were better off earlier taking WIU and giving 19.5
Take North A and the points for $100 and get back $210, the original bet plus the $110. You need to put $110 to get back $200 on WIU but they have to cover by 25. Juice is 10.
On the money line WIU is a 30:1 favorite to win. Put up $30 to win get back $31 or as they show on the 5dimes board put up $3,000 to get back $3,100.
UNA finds themselves a 13:1 dog on the money line. Put up the $100 and get back $1,300 with a UNA win.

Re: WIU LEATHERNECKS* @ CSU RAMS
With the loss to North Alabama the Leathernecks are now projected to lose in Colorado.
Illinois’ unparalleled corruption is robbing the citizens of a lot of things including their birth right and WIU along with their football team.
Did anyone take UNA and points. UNA was 30:1 at one time. That one got away from us while waiting for the CSU game. Not enough resources to look at them all but we are reviewing our game priority sorts. UNA has a strong football tradition.
These first games are fun and all over the place. It as not a promising opener for WIU.
