Playoff Selection Criteria
Wondering what the Selection criteria is and any requirements that must be met.
I've seen that 7 D1 wins is a must, but we have seen teams in with less, and others being talked about this year who wouldn't have met that requirement. So 7 D1 wins does NOT seem to be a requirement
These would seem to be criteria that might be considered. Which of these are considerations, and in what order?
Total Wins
Conference Wins
SOS
Head to Head between teams being evaluated
Common Opponents of teams being evaluated
Good Wins
Bad Losses
Conference Standings
What about "how many seats you can sell for a home game"? Is that really a factor in choosing a worthiness of a Playoff team?

Isn't that how the grizz made the playoffs in 2014?BigSky2014 wrote:What about "how many seats you can for a home game"? Is that really a factor in choosing a worthiness of a Playoff team?

No, they made it because they had 7 D-1 wins and there are 24 spots to fill.formerEag wrote:Isn't that how the grizz made the playoffs in 2014?BigSky2014 wrote:What about "how many seats you can for a home game"? Is that really a factor in choosing a worthiness of a Playoff team?
Glad the obsession is still strong, though.

Yes, because an offhanded joke about your "rival" = obsession. Trust me, no one (except grizz fans) thinks of Montana that way anymore.Grizalltheway wrote:No, they made it because they had 7 D-1 wins and there are 24 spots to fill.formerEag wrote:

Good luck against Northern Colorado and the cats. I think you'll need it.

Well the OP had nothing to do with UM, but you still managed to bring them up within minutes.formerEag wrote:Yes, because an offhanded joke about your "rival" = obsession. Re: Playoff Selection Criteria
Unseeded playoff teams "bid" for the right to host home games in the early rounds --- pretty much 100% cash-based. There are schools well-known for going "high" and others fabulously known for being playoff cheapskates.BigSky2014 wrote: ...

You can find the actual rules from the NCAA if you look around for them.

6 D1 wins is a must if the team is not an auto bid. Western Illinois made the playoffs last year with a 6-5 record. They were 6-4 vs FCS teams.

That has nothing to do with who gets in the playoffs, though. All bid/home-game stuff is decided after the bracket is paired up.Aho Old Guy wrote:Unseeded playoff teams "bid" for the right to host home games in the early rounds --- pretty much 100% cash-based.
