Re: Who Wins the Big South (2015)
The Flames are due. Excitement is building over their first playoff appearance AND first playoff win. Fans expect more, and Turner Gill will deliver. Whether that's enough to translate into a higher title than the Big South remains to be seen, though, as UM/EWU and NDSU, among several others, will have a TON to say about THAT....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Based on history, it won't be Furman

Being "due" doesn't mean a thing.SuperHornet wrote:The Flames are due. Excitement is building over their first playoff appearance AND first playoff win. I think CCU will win the BG South based off our returning players and strength on both sides. We had NDSU last year and lost, basically b/c of two bad calls and a bad referee decision.
If we do lose, it'll be to Liberty. Not because they are owed a win, but b/c they are the second best team in the conference.

Team/coach knows how to win. Just really impressed with Moglia and think the Beach Chickens will do it again.

Re: Who Wins the Big South (2015)
I really think this will be Liberty's time this year. While Coastal is returning a lot of players, Liberty is as well. The Flames are the only team in the conference who can hang with Coastal offensively, and showed last year that they can shut them down defensively as well, and they get the Chants at home this year, and the Flames have shown that they can get it done at home in conference, with only 2 losses there since 2007 (CCU in 2013 by 3 points and CSU last year by 2). I'll go over it in more detail in my prediction thread later, but here is how I see the finishing order
Liberty 6-0
CCU 5-1 (loss to Liberty)
CSU 4-2 (losses to CCU and Liberty
Monmouth 3-3 (losses to CCU, Liberty and CSU
Presbyterian 2-4
Gardner-Webb 1-5
Kennesaw State 0-6
Liberty 6-0
CCU 5-1 (loss to Liberty)
CSU 4-2 (losses to CCU and Liberty
Monmouth 3-3 (losses to CCU, Liberty and CSU
Presbyterian 2-4
Gardner-Webb 1-5
Kennesaw State 0-6

With all that SEC-type talent in the southeast how does a school located in the Atlanta suburbs go 0-6 in the soft Big South?dbackjon wrote:Yup - NE of Atlanta, in the suburbsAZGrizFan wrote:Kennesaw State is a real university?

Re: Who Wins the Big South (2015)
Why? We know we aren't a powerhouse conference like the SoCon used to be. But this 'soft' conference has been getting into the post season more and more. They've been doing well against POWER schools like Montana and NDSU (I'm still pissed about that game. We had it. We had that game won.) Liberty is doing very well and CSU has potential (but I think they might be pissing it away.)AZGrizFan wrote:lol...nobody wants to argue the "soft" comment? Damn....

Ibanez and Libertine touched on the more cogent points, but I found the "soft" comment to be asinine and without merit so I didn't think it was worth dignifying it with even a basic rebuttal.AZGrizFan wrote:lol...nobody wants to argue the "soft" comment? Damn....

You just described 98.6% of the comments on this site. We should all be used to it by now.bjtheflamesfan wrote:found the ____ comment to be asinine and without merit
Re: Who Wins the Big South (2015)
BJ, you gotta get over that. The Big South is soft. It's ok, we're improving by leaps and bounds.bjtheflamesfan wrote:Ibanez and Libertine touched on the more cogent points, but I found the "soft" comment to be asinine and without merit so I didn't think it was worth dignifying it with even a basic rebuttal.AZGrizFan wrote:lol...nobody wants to argue the "soft" comment? Its either gonna be CCU or Liberty. Went with the Flamers since they are hosting, and they have God on their side...
Liberty's schedule looks rather brutal. Might need to win the BS AQ to get in, although 7-4 could get an At-Large with that extra (14th) At-Large for next season's playoffs.Would need 8-3 to be a lock. Smart to finally not schedule 1-2 Div II which seems like they had been doing for a long time.

CCU on the other hand, looks like they'll get at at large if they don't beat Liberty (8-3 for an AT Large with the rather soft no I-A game schedule):
