UNC Bears - New Logo

The school hasn't officially announced this yet, but here's their new athletic logo according to some sources.







Personally the stand alone bear head is a downgrade from what they were using. Their logo with the head, paw and UNC BEARS was pretty bad I'll admit, but the head by itself was just fine.

Not sure which one I like better. The only thing about the old logo I don't like is to me, it looks like the bear has really long eyelashes going on.

Torch Creative is the company who designed it. If that sounds familiar it's because they also did the coke snorting cat for msu.

The eyes and the bottom row of teeth needed work with their old logo, but this new one has far more issues.

Wow that’s bad, so bad that it’s cute…and that ain’t a good thing. Old logo was much more…ugh…intimidating.

Note to AD’s everywhere, do not accept Touch Creative’s low bid for a rebranding RFP.

Someone on our own message board made a good point that the old logo looks more like a grizzly bear. We aren't the grizzly bears, we're just the "Bears." So, a more generic looking Bear makes more sense. Also, we're going back to UNC on our helmets rather than NC. That is a good move.

Don't get me wrong the new cat was an upgrade from whatever the fuck that previous one was, but it's a junkie that needs rehab.

One comment I read from the creators was that they made the eyes smaller for the new bear to make it less intimidating. That's right folks, we don't want our athletic department to strike fear into our opponents. We want to cuddle the fuck out of them until they lay down and die. #cuddly #lovenotwar
