Yeah I could've lost a lot of money if someone would've offered to bet straight up winner/loser on that one and given me SFA. But football is unpredictable. You just never know. You can be right most of the time. But there are always going to be huge surprises that nobody saw coming.
I live in Baton Rouge and my son went to LSU. I will never forget that LSU got into the 2007/2008 BCS national championship game because 10-1 West Virginia, with players and coaches knowing a win would put them into the BCS championship game, lost to 4-7 Pittsburgh. No question when one looks at the entire bodies of work for that season as to which was the better team. I found one line from back then and it was West Virginia by 28.5. The Mountaineers were a big favorite and they should have been. But if you just watched that one game you wouldn't have known it.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

This was definitely one of those nobody saw on the horizon. In the words of actor Erik King this is what PVAM is saying right now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Prhzzqc0 ... ata_player" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;JohnStOnge wrote:Yeah I could've lost a lot of money if someone would've offered to bet straight up winner/loser on that one and given me SFA. You know comparing scores does have value. All you have to do to see that is look at how well power rating systems do in predicting games. Based on considering all the scores a system like Sagarin's Predictor will pick the winner correctly around 75% of the time (77% at the end of the 2012 season). And if you ever try predicting all the games yourself one week then compare how you did to how that system did you'll see that it's hard to beat (ALL the games now...don't cherry pick).
But there's still a lot of unpredictability. Like Prairie View lost to Southern the week after Southern lost to Northwestern State by 55-14. I guess that's what makes football fun. You just never know for sure.

Re: PVA>SFA>MSU
As stated before I wished that SFA were ranked obviously it would have meant more if that were the case. This should get PVAM some votes from the 1-AA committee.Cherry picking is not my cup of tea. When App St beat Michigan then lost to somebody the following weekend.PVAM has a date next weekend with Grambling.Didn't know they beat SFA in their backyard!!!! I wonder if Sagarin predicted this game????JohnStOnge wrote:You know comparing scores does have value. All you have to do to see that is look at how well power rating systems do in predicting games.
