Second Round Week - Breakdown

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Playoffs

SDKST 3-28 NDSU
UNH 7-23 WOFF
UCA 16-24 GASO
CCU 35-63 ODU
SBU 10-16 MTST
CP 16-18 SHSU
ILST 38-37 APP (OT)
WAG 19-29 EWU

  • Best Performance: (#1) North Dakota St. 28, South Dakota St. 3 - The Bison again hold Zach Zenner under 50 yards & this time find some semblance of offense in a surprisingly comfortable win.

Worst Performance: Coastal Carolina 35, (#2) Old Dominion 63 - Not often a team gains 540 yards & gets whipped. It's also not often a QB throws the ball 44 times & still ends up with an efficiency rating over 200.

Most Surprising Result: Soccer Fest - An inability to score touchdowns when given the opportunity was a factor in several of the playoff games today. Central Arkansas was outplayed for the most part, but they still could have pulled off a win if they could've avoided settling for 3 field goals in the first half. Cal Poly & Sam Houston each got 3 field goals to just 1 touchdown in a surprisingly low scoring game (SHSU's early blocked punt for a safety ended up being the difference). Montana State also had a 3:1 field-goal to touchdown ratio in their slugfest against Stony Brook. This trend hurt Wagner the most, though—they actually scored 5 times to Eastern Washington's 4, but 4 of those 5 scores were field goals while all of EWU's were touchdowns.

Southland (non-playoff)

NICH 3-77 ORST

  • NConf Record: 0-1
    Overall: 15-18

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-3

    Best Performance: (none)

Worst Performance: Nicholls St. 3, (FBS) Oregon St. 77 - I'm guessing the Colonels were wishing Oregon State was in the Pac-12 South.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

Pioneer League

USD 34-10 MARIST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 9-21

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 3-18

Best Performance: San Diego 34, Marist 10 - Mason Mills throws for 422 yards as the Toreros easily earn a Pioneer League co-championship.

Worst Performance: Marist 10, San Diego 34 - Over the last 3 years, the Red Foxes are just 3-13 in Poughkeepsie.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)
