#9 Wofford Terriers (9-3) @ #1 North Dakota State Bison (11-1)
FCS Quarterfinals
Fargo, North Dakota
Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome
Saturday, December 8th
2:00pm CST
NDSU stopped the nation's leading rusher twice, no doubt they'll stop the 3rd best rusher too. We shut down Georgia Southern's triple option last year so I expect the same this year. As long as the Bison offense comes to play again and doesn't turn the ball over NDSU will win.
Can't wait to welcome Wofford to the Fargodome!

The Bison defense is really good.
Bison win 31-6
If Kass plays this game isn't going to be nearly as easy as you think it is.
I don't expect a performance as stellar as against last year's Georgia Southern TO team, but I also don't think Wofford is as good as last year Georgia Southern team.

heagle is much better than ollman in run support, ollman is very serviceable though. heagle was a huge key in our win vs georgia southern. wofford is a very good team. everybody looks at their offense but their defense is very good and one of the best in the fcs. that being said we are the best defense in fcs. our coaches will ave the team well prepared. our defense is very disciplined and we are deep so we wont get worn out. woffords only chance is to score off of their defense. frankly, i dont see them scoring over 13 points on us. i think ndsu wins 24-10

You may be right but no team has consistently moved the ball on our defense this year. The Bison defense leads the FCS in 6 defensive categories. They give up only 67 rushing yards/game.
Wofford will probably have some good runs but I believe the Bison D is up for the challenge come saturday.

I disagree with Heagle being 'much' better in run support. Ollman is very good, maybe not as good a CH but where he is way below CH is in pass coverage. He got burned a few times yesterday in pass defense.
I respect this year's Wofford team a lot but it's going to be awfully tough. NDSU's got one of the best I-AA/FCS defenses ever, I think, and their coaching staff showed last year against Georgia Southern, I think, that they know how to address the option. Their defense is just overwhelming and playing in that dome is comparable to trying to play at Missoula in terms of crowd noise, etc. My expectation is that NDSU's defense will pretty much shut Wofford's offense down just like it's pretty much shut every offense it's played this year down.
But we'll see.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

The fact of the matter is the triple option cannot solely win it for Wofford, and with them being ranked 121 out of 121 in passing offense I just don't see how they can put points on the board. Now, I expect them to come out and try everything they can, and I'm sure they'll find success somewhere as they're a good team and good teams always do. I just don't see them doing enough to win on Saturday unless they're defense puts up points.

That all depends on who gets on the board first, BN. I could see Wofford's TO burning huge chunks of time that NDSU COULD use to score.
If NDSU goes up 2-3 TDs early, watch out, though. If that happens, the game could get ugly REAL quick.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Being completely realistic, the bison offense is going to struggle against a very good and underrated Wofford defense that held #9 South Carolina's offense to only 7 points through 3 quarters and 17 in the game (Gamecocks had a fumble return TD). They also held UNH to only 7 points, 21 less than any FCS team has limited them to all year. This should be a great defensive battle. If the bison are going to win, Jensen needs to play mistake free football.

Could happen, but I see Wofford having lots of 3 and outs and NDSU doing the clock burning.

SDSU's defense is better than Wofford's in most categories. Not doubting they will be making plays, but they're not the best defense we've seen this year.
However, I do agree. The Bison offense could find a way to lose it just as we did against Indiana State.
NDSU has done a great job the past 3 years of playing good football in the playoffs though, so I fully expect the same Saturday.

IMO, the Bison O-Line will wear them down in the 2nd half. But I do agree with the 3 and outs for Wofford. I assume they will go for some 4th downs if they cross mid-field.
Watching the Wofford/UNH game, the Bison defense matches up really well with them.

A bad Minnesota team held UNH to 7, the same Minnesota that needed OT to beat UNLV. UNLV lost to some bad teams, Colorado St and Washington St.

Damn, missed the memo that NDSU had moved up to FBS. Fuck me runnin', congrats!
