Coastal Carolina vs. Old Dominion

Post by CAA Flagship »

History tells us that Coastal will have one half to score points. But can they score enough to win?

In the 11 games this year, ODU's defense has been a Jekyll and Hyde act. They gave up 10 points or less in one of the halves in 9 of those games (0 - 3 times, 3 - 2 times, along with a 6, 7, 9, and 10).
For the most part, the other half has been a disaster. But the offense has been able to put up enough points throughout the game to overcome the bad defensive halves.

If Coastal can find a way to control the clock, and stay one step ahead of the ODU defensive adjustments as the game wears on, they can certainly have a chance here.

Oh please. Spare us.

ODU by no less than 21. I'll go 48-20.

I would love to have Coastal win. If ODU can score big and score early, make it a game of catch up, then ODU will easily win.

Why has your defense been so inconsistent?

1. They're not that good.
2. They don't have to be, most of the time.

So is it that the halves that they give up a bunch of points basically the the halves that ODU is not scoring as much?

What is the over/under that CC pulls a 4-29 play on Old Dominion?

We just suck.

In general, the D has been better in the second half.

Points given up in each game by halves:
20 - 3 (Overcame a 20-10 deficit at halftime to win 57-23)
7 - 0 (28-7 at halftime. 45-7 final)
14 - 0 (42-14 at halftime. 70-14 final)
40 - 21 (Overcame 40-24 deficit at halftime to win 64-61)
14 - 23 (38-14 lead at halftime. 45-37 final)
10 - 28 (14-10 lead at halftime. Lost 38-14)
6 - 14 (17-6 lead at halftime. 31-20 final)
17 - 9 (21-17 lead at halftime. 31-26 final)
0 - 27 (32-0 lead at halftime. 53-27 final)
28 - 3 (Overcame 28-27 deficit at halftime to win 41-31)
21 - 7 (Overcame 21-10 deficit at halftime to win 38-28)

Yeah I see potential blowout this weekend and I'll say 56-20 Heinke will have a field day.

No. I just need a team to root for while mine is hibernating. I have a hard time rooting for fellow CAA schools, well, because I hate all of them. UD has faced GSU five times in the past 15 years or so (two reg season, three playoffs) and I have always respected that program. I finally got to attend a game at Paulson this year and had a great time. BTK was a great host and I got to tailgate with several posters, putting faces to names. So, I am now an honorary GSU fan. :thumb:

Wear sunglasses. And bring binoculars so you can see the plays at the opposite end of the field. Make sure you turn your head 90 degrees to the right to determine the down and distance of each play. :coffee:
