Liberty billboards
I saw two billboards promoting Liberty in the Houston area on my drive to DFW for the holidays. One was in The Woodlands/Conroe area I think and the other in Willis north of there. The first was a nice picture of the sold out football stadium and the second was some girl. Haven't ever seen Liberty promoted in the area and thought it was interesting.
Made me think sly fox was behind it seeing he is a Houston guy.

Re: Liberty billboards
I heard a Liberty ad on ESPN radio last week. Talked about being a soldier for Jesus or something like that. I lawled.

We have a large student and alumni base in the Houston area. You can really say that about most of the country tho.

Re: Liberty billboards
I know of two local wrestlers that attended Liberty. Both were pretty good wrestlers, speaks well of Liberty that they were able to recruit in PA against all the local PA schools.jcmanson wrote:We have a large student and alumni base in the Houston area. Unfortunately, I think Liberty dropped it's wrestling program.
Re: Liberty billboards
Yeah we had a really good wrestling program before we dropped it last year. Really all of our sports except for football and mens hoops are very good for a mid major program. Of course those two are the only ones that matter

Except for the fact that the Liberty girls VB team won the Big South and therefore made the NCAA Tournament.jcmanson wrote:Yeah we had a really good wrestling program before we dropped it last year. Of course, their dubious "reward" for that is getting to play #8 Penn State in the first round. We'll see how that turns out.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Re: Liberty billboards
I haven't seen the billboards but I have heard from quite a few of my friends that have. Were they along I-45? If so, I may need to check them out later this week.

What do you mean "Except for the fact"? You basically reiterated my post.SuperHornet wrote:Except for the fact that the Liberty girls VB team won the Big South and therefore made the NCAA Tournament.jcmanson wrote:Yeah we had a really good wrestling program before we dropped it last year. Take pics of the billboards and post them. We have both men's and women's bball players from the Houston area.

I was supposed to be up in The Woodlands on Wednesday but I'm now stuck working on the other side of town that day. I'll snap pics as soon as I get a chance to head north.

Re: Liberty billboards
Not trying to be flippant, but has Liberty ever been in the FCS Football playoffs? Seems like they have a really good record each year, but normally lose their last game to knock themselves out. Is that so?

Re: Liberty billboards
Yeah basically you got it. For 5 years in a row, we've been one game short of the playoffs. And no we've never made the playoffs as a program.GoApps70 wrote:Not trying to be flippant, but has Liberty ever been in the FCS Football playoffs? Finally drove by the one in the Woodlands that you see heading northbound on I-45 at the 1488 exit ...

The color went out on the camera on my first gen Moto Droid. Hopefully I get the Galaxy Nexus in the next day or so and I'll get some color in the pics as well.

That's it! "Training champions for Christ!" That's what they say in the ESPN spot I heard on SiriusXM.
