Playoff officiating crews

Post by JayJ79 »

Do they still use officiating crews from "impartial" conferences in the playoff games?

I seem to remember in previous years that the info on which conference provided officials for each game ahead of time (at least for the upcoming round)

anyone know who is officiating the first (and/or second) round games this year?

all I know is that everyone says I hope you don't get our refs

I think everyone can agree that MEAC has the absolute worst crews. The SoCon fans are on record as saying their crews stink, but I've never had issue with the games they did in the playoffs.

The JMU/EKU game today had SoCon refs. Not sure about the other three games.

I don't believe I've ever attended a game live that had a Big Sky crew. I guess it takes longer than seven days to get a wagon train from Helena to Chattanooga.

Helena you say. I am pretty sure Carroll College never played in the FCS Chipper....might want to get your facts right... And we do have cars now. Have you seen the new 1965 Buicks!!! Awesome automobiles.

I made a few assumptions. Since Montana is the Big Sky State (I think), I figured the league office would be there. I know for a fact that there are only four cities in Montana (Muhzoola, Bozeman, Butt, and Helena). Having the league office in Muhzoola or Bozeman would be viewed as favortism, and being located in a town called Butt is just awkward for everyone, so I figured had to be Helena.

Cat/Griz was played in Butte a few times.

And you know what happens when you assume...
That's really not all that fair as Butte is closer to Bozeman. They should have played it in Anaconda or Deer Lodge or P-burg. BTW, I noticed you referred to it as "Cat/Griz". Am I to assume that is correct? If not, what did they call it in Butte?

This thread has turned so....

I don't give a rats ass what my friends in Griz nation call it. It will always be Cat/Griz for me. TO ME, it always sounded better that way.

Flame away friends.

The SoCon crews were a little more tolerable this year for one reason...they aparently decided to "let em play" for the most part and called a lot fewer "ghost pass interceptions" and personal fouls. They still blow a lot of judgement type calls on pass receptons and offensive linemen have to absolutely mug someone to get a holding call but I prefer that to the old days when there appeared to be a flag on every other play. Just hold your breath if they have to be in position to rule on a catch near the sidelines or baseline or on a pass caught near the ground or on ruling "down by contact".
