Once Again, FCS proves it's superiority
By settling it on the field.
I think USC would take down either Florida or Oklahoma, but we will never know.
In FCS, everyone outside of Massey and JMU knows who is #1

If USC would have been firing on all cylinders all game, it would have been way worse than 38-24.

Come on, the BCS has it right - UConn and Buffalo are playing 2 days after New Year's. What could be wrong with that?

Yes FCS is superior in that aspect but FCS also has to limit the number of teams that make the playoffs. IT has been 16 for a while and it has worked well, now it is 20. If the number grows above that it will become a joke and won't be any better than the bowl mess.dbackjon wrote:By settling it on the field.

Why would an expanded playoff be a joke? You are still crowning a NC on the field.grizzaholic wrote:Yes FCS is superior in that aspect but FCS also has to limit the number of teams that make the playoffs. It is not like the additional 4 teams relegate anyone to a game that has NO meaning.

I understand dback. But if the NCAA thinks like this and you know they do. ( well if 16 teams gets us X money, 20 will get us Y. Well lets expand it to 24 or 28 so we can get Z money) Pretty soon you got a playoff that is 8 weeks or more long and you start allowing teams that have no right to be in it. Maybe I would not like to see the entire CAA in the playoffs.

Even expanding to 32 would only add one week, the same as 20.
FCS Playoffs aren't a huge moneymaker, so that pressure is not there.

If it is not a big moneymaker so be it. With expanded playoff teams it lessens the requirements to play for a national title. As well as putting a big strain on athletes as well as Universities travel budgets.dbackjon wrote:Even expanding to 32 would only add one week, the same as 20.

I think the field will eventually reach 32 teams. I'm okay with that - as long as they don't expand beyond 32. Most years you will still end up with the top eight teams in the quarterfinals.grizzaholic wrote:If it is not a big moneymaker so be it. Re: Once Again, FCS proves it's superiority
This is dead on. The NCAA isn't gonna open it up to a bunch more teams as the same teams that are the money makers are already most likely gonna make it in most years when it's at 20 so why would they add the others that pull 4k or 5k for money purposes? The cries of hurting the athletes doesn't wash either as if they polled them and said they would have the chance to compete for a national title I bet they would jump at it in a second and it is only gonna add one more game for a very select few teams anyway that will be more than happy to play the extra game.dbackjon wrote:Even expanding to 32 would only add one week, the same as 20.
