Indianapolis, IN (AP) - Due to a second year of lackluster football at the University of Montana, the NCAA has decided that this year's automatic playoffs autobid should go to the next most arrogant fanbase in FCS, the North Dakota State Bison. The decision was made on the "second coming of Christ" atmosphere created by its posters on dozens of college football message boards.
The auto autobid is a free pass to the playoffs, including Top 4 seeding. The rest of the season is cancelled for NDSU and they merely await their first (home) playoff opponent.
An official at the University of Northern Iowa, a conference sister institution, is quoted as saying, "They're obviously unbeatable, so we've been rather expecting it."
Other teams who applied, but were denied include: Delaware, Appalachian State and Eastern Washington.

That was a fun year. No playoffs, no conference championship (other than the mythical national title), no rivalry trophy. Just a big fail job.

I mean I don't know what was worse, what the Pats did during the year they won every game but the Super, or that for the Bison? I go with the one for the Bison, because I think that was the year they beat Minny and Cent. Mich, and then didn't even win the conference in the last game of the year to your biggest rival. Only way it could have been worse would have been had it happened in the Dome.

Shouldnt the school with the longest moral victory winning streak in the country that brags about going toe-to-toe with Idaho get some consideration for this, or do you actually have to be a good football team? I know Montana isnt very good, barely got by EWU and I know NDSU is probably the best team in the division, but this doesnt add up.
Do you actually have to be arrogant and have a good football team or can you still be in the running if you are just arrogant with a worthless team

Nope, we are not in the same league as the FBS bound NDSU who stomped competition during transition to win...a GWFC title only. Look at all the MVFC titles you have won...oh wait you have never done that. Look at all the times you beat UNI...oh wait haven't done that either. What have you done? Oh thats right your wins against the MAC and the lower part of the Big 12 and Big 10. Enjoy looking at those titles. I as a Sioux fan would rather win a national title than a FBS game anyday.

I as a Bison fan would rather win a national title as well. But winning games against FBS opponents is a step in the right direction. Another step is of course winning the conference like you have stated. And that has evaded us so far.
Does an FBS win mean that we will win the title like some Bison fans think? Of course not. But it certainly doesn't hurt.

The fact that UND won 1 and has been to 2 of them this century speaks for itself. And since we are not full DI members yet thats all you could ask for with our school. Unlike NDSU who has had 3 years to go to one...hasn't happen yet. But a losing record has.
