An FCS football night?

Post by woffordgrad94 »

Someone on the Wofford board suggested that instead of showing crummy FBS games, Thursday nights could be used by several sports networks as an FCS football night. Great games from all over the country would be shown, and with some research from the announcers, some great stories would be told.

While this sounds great in theory, I think such an experiment would likely fail. As much as the people on this message board love FCS football, the general public at large just isn't interested, and there is really nothing anyone can do to make them more interested. People would simply watch reality TV programs in lieu of these FCS games on Thursdays. Most people only care about the big FBS schools (BCS schools), and that is not going to change. What do you guys think?

I agree with your second paragraph. People would rather watch Akron - Central Michigan than Appalachian State - Georgia Southern.

I don't know, it could work possibly...afterall they show MEAC games regularly on ESPNU as well as high school games across the ESPN Family of Networks. I don't think those games would get better ratings than lets say a Delaware-William & Mary game. Two of the last three Hampton Football games were shown on ESPNU and ESPNU is then showing another MEAC game that includes Howard and Morgan State on Saturday night at 10:30....
