Former Sac State football coach John Volek has retired as AD at Sierra College. The "Big Cat" got a raw deal at his dream job at Sac State, but produced several high-quality professional players, some of whom even have professional championships. He also mentored some outstanding assistants, several of whom deserve HC shots. Plus, the programs he oversaw at Sierra drew national recognition. I wish Coach well in retirement.

Big Cat Retires
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
