Question for Montana...and ODU fans...

Post by ODUalum11 »

Is there a series agreed upon to start in a couple years? I know it was a topic of discussion a while back but I wasn't sure if it was official...

Listed as tentative for Missoula 8/30/2014 and Norfolk 9/12/2015. Not sure whether they have been confirmed.

Someone asked Coach Wilder about it during his chat a few months ago:
12:54 Monarch Fan: Rumor is we're playing Montana in 2014 and 2015. Any truth to it?

12:54 Bobby Wilder: That is a work in progress.
From that response, there have definitely been discussions. Kudos to UM and ODU if this ends up actually happening. The FCS needs more regular season games like this between FCS powerhouses. :coffee:

I'd love for ODU to be considered a FCS powerhouse but I wouldn't consider us one just yet but with the progression the program made from year 1 to year 2 who knows where this program will be by then. hopefully a contender in the CAA.

Anyway, both Montana and Old Dominion need to make this happen. As the saying goes "in order to be the best, you have to play the best".

Also someone mention this on MonarchNation but there might be a possibility that Montana is a FBS program by then. So what would happen with that return date to Norfolk? I'd think ODU would be willing to pay for them to come to Foreman Field since we did pay for Cal Poly to fly across the country and play us at Foreman and not return a trip this year.

I received and e-mail from the AD about a year ago and it had ODU on it. It also listed games against App, NDSU, and McNeese

That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801
