Photos from the NC game
So I had to work last night and missed the game. I was wondering if anyone had a link to some good photos from last night. Preferably something that showed the whole stadium and the entire feel of the game.

Whoa. Even a couple of pictures of the ParaPokes. I wasn't sure they were still going to jump after two of our ParaPokes, who jump for most all of the McNeese games, were killed in a plane crash a month or so ago. I know Jimmy Heath, ex-McNeese Head Cheerleader, and Dwayne Bruette were two of them. I wonder who the third was. Looking at the pictures, I assume that Dwayne had the American Flag.

Agreed, but we are both glass-half-full people. I thought the atmosphere was tremendous.EWURanger wrote:Excellent.Willie wrote:How was the "stadium"?
If you must have bad news, here is what I have seen as a consensus of the glass-half-empty fans with my own couple of nitpicks added in. If Frisco takes these to heart, next year can be even better:
1. The PA system was inadequate. I can agree with that to an extent. On the visitor side anyway, it was tough to hear the official and the national anthem wasn't very loud.
2. There are some weird acoustic shadows in that place. At least in my section, 128 row 2, you couldn't hear the Delaware band, but could hear EWU's band. Was this the opposite for those on EWU's side? When I watched on DVR, the Delaware band was blaring the whole game, so I assume this was the case.
3. Lines at the restrooms and concessions were ridiculous and there were not enough people working the food stands. The guy sitting next to me said he walked all the way around to the EWU side and had better success. This wasn't a concern for me, as I always eat before entering a football stadium and have no issues with my bladder.
4. Inadequate trash receptacles in the parking lot. I can vouch for this. There was a fixed mesh basket at the end of each really long tailgate row. WTF?
5. The scoreboard (not the video - video was great) was obviously not ready for American football. No stats other than the basics were shown. Perhaps they can install a stat board for future years.
6. Local turnout was next to nil. The only noticeable people not wearing blue or red were peppered in the end zone next to EWU's band and appeared to number less than 1K. The Cotton Bowl effect was real.
7. While I enjoyed the game, if I had a choice (I didn't) I'd select seats no lower than about row 10. The stadium is a dugout and entry/exit is from the top row. Because it's a soccer field, even though there's no track, the first row sits back a pretty good distance from the sideline. While the first row is elevated and was not obstructed by players, it was still not a great sightline. I am probably spoiled by the Tub, which has the best sideline sightlines in FCS, as the stands start high and are extremely pitched.
8. No chili cookoff!

Wasn't it built for soccer? Not saying it wasn't a good location or anything. Just not a fan of soccer.danefan wrote:Just curious - but why did you put it in quotes?Willie wrote:How was the "stadium"?

I agree with all that, especially the bit about the lack of locals. It seemed as if it was all Blue and Red. (BTW, I was pleasently surprised by the amount of red there - definitely more Blue, but we had a much better turnout than most thought we would).93henfan wrote:Agreed, but we are both glass-half-full people. They need plastic bins next year and a crew changing them continuously like any major FCS venue does.

Frisco did a great job, except in the area of local support. Having this game the same day as the Cotton Bowl was a big mistake. They need to fix that.

Is a 21,000 seat facility not a stadium just because it was built for soccer?Willie wrote:Wasn't it built for soccer? Not saying it wasn't a good location or anything. Just not a fan of soccer.danefan wrote:

Who cares what it was built for?

I heard Eddie Vedder said that Wa Griz wasn't a bad venue either...for a football stadium.danefan wrote:Is a 21,000 seat facility not a stadium just because it was built for soccer?Willie wrote: Wasn't it built for soccer? Not saying it wasn't a good location or anything. Just not a fan of soccer.

Re: Photos from the NC game
Sounds like a lot of the frustrations are similar to the ones in Chatty. The god damn lack of people working the booths, and concessions always sucked. If you wanted a coke to mix a drink or pick up a NC game shirt you'd be in the line for 20 minutes at the very least. The only time I ever remember shit like that running smooth was at Marshall.93henfan wrote:Agreed, but we are both glass-half-full people. I thought the atmosphere was tremendous.EWURanger wrote:

Did I say the stadium sucked? Fuck people, read for a change. All I was referring to was that soccer fields and football fields are a lot different.
It may have been a great site, but the worst day they could pick to play.

As far as size of the field goes, no, they aren't all that different. All they have to do is paint different lines on it.
Re: Photos from the NC game
Yeah...I was trying to figure that one out as well? How are the different? They are both grass/grass like surfaces, in a rectangular shape.Grizalltheway wrote:As far as size of the field goes, no, they aren't all that different. All they have to do is paint different lines on it.
The only difference would be a possible crown on the field - which not all football fields have.

I'm done trying to explain.

Shit dude, they play football in baseball stadiums all the time, PSU does it every home game.
Funny, I don't recall you ever bitching about that.
