Appalachian's Championships

Post by Appaholic »

I know there are a lot of fans here (particularly CAA) that resent the fact that AppSt fans tout the Mountaineer's 3 strait national championships & win over Michigan. Apparently those fans feel that any title won is fraudulent due to these facts: 1) they were won vs inferior competition if they defeated a non-CAA team (UNI) or 2) since they aren't in the CAA & they were against CAA teams (UMass, UD), there obviously had to be a reason other than they were better since, if they aren't in the CAA, they can't be better. Well that is an invalid assumption, here's a partial list of some the schools that were playing Division I-AA or FCS ball in the mid-2000's:

YSU
Montana
Montana St
EWU
NAU
Portland St
Idaho St
Weber St
Delaware
Furman
UTC
EKU
Jacksonville St
McNesse St
NDST
SDST
EIU
WIU
UNI
Florida A&M
Grambling
UNH
UMass
JMU
Lehigh

I'd say that is pretty fair competition and this is not a a complete list, just the ones I could confirm as playing FCS or I-AA ball at times during 2005-2007. Come bow before our awesomeness.

So when we win on the 7th...and we have 2 in seven years...will this thread just go away?

I'd worry more about how you're gonna replace those 3 All-Americans on Defense next year...GSU looks very tough and your D, even with those guys looked awfully soft.

Never. :D

We lose a lot next year, no doubt about that. I expect we will have a competitive team though, we usually do.

Enjoy Frisco and let us know what we are missing.

It would have never been started without AssKickenChicken's assistance....so yes....but I wouldn't count your Hen's eggs hatching as yet...you didn't beat Nova & EWU defeated them handidly with Sczur at full speed & without TJ...

I think it was pretty apparent that Villanova was hardly the same team vs EWU as they were vs UD and ASU. If Nova had played the way they did last week vs ASU.. they would have never reached the semi finals and if Nova played the way they did last week at Delaware..they would have never made the playoffs.

Remember last week Appyholic...you were pretty certain about that game as well...This certainly is not an easy game but I like this match up. Mitchell doesn't have the strongest of arms and our DB's are ball hawks...What concerns me is not the Offense or the Defense...we've got the best QB in the FCS and the best Defense in the FCS, however Special Teams have been a major problem. The only thing that scares me more than Perry kicking field goals is our Kickoff Return Team...If we're solid there, we win.

"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."
