Portland State at Northern Arizona

Along with the two big rival games (Montana/Montana State and Sac State/UC-Davis) there are other games going on around the conference. Kickoff for this game between the Portland State Vikings and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks is at 3pm MST from Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff. The Vikings are looking for a win to improve on their record from last year while the Lumberjacks are hoping for a win to save what was supposed to be a great year. The Jacks own a win at home against Montana State, but an ugly loss also at home against Sacramento State put them behind and out of the playoff picture. As a result, this will be the last game for both teams this year. The Vikings opened their season with a trip to Arizona, as back then they played in Tempe against Arizona State, and they will end their year again within the state with this game at Northern Arizona. Weather is not a factor as this game is played indoors.

If the Jacks lose, I think I'll solidly be on the fire Souers bandwagon. You can blame a couple losing streaks on a class or two of players, but when it happens three years or more in a row, that is on the coach and clearing him out to get rid of that culture of losing.

Basically no expectations for Burton other than to lay the groundwork for future success. There are 11 seniors on this team, of which 6 only saw really any playing time this year. As young as we were, playing home games in a high school stadium 18 miles from campus, expectations were not that high. As I said on another thread, it would have been great to go .500 in conference, but realistically we are where I thought we would be this year.

The Lumberjacks aren't as dominant nor are the Vikings as horrible as the score suggests. PSU's turning the ball over multiple times on their own end of the field resulted in negative outcomes. Same thing that happened to NAU vs. Sacramento State.

I watched a good bit of PSU's game this year vs. Arizona State University. Things are looking up on PSU's end compared to the end of Glanville's stint.
