UNI @ WIU roll call
UNI @ WIU roll call
There appears to be some WIU fans popping up here, so I thought I'd try to get some inter-school tailgating going on.
With 1 dollar tickets for the game it sounds as though called from UNI fans have flooded the WIU ticket office.
Who here is going, we need to have a CS.com tailgater.
I am making my first trip to a non-FBS road game, and will be meeting up with Capn and his kids and pantherrob.
Who else is going to be there? Cap is trying to tell me via text message that Western is a cool/great place. Will Western fans disappoint, or will there be so many UNI fans there it will be like an out door UNIDome South?

Look at the attendance from the final game of the last few seasons. It will probably disappoint. We're bringing four.

I'll be there.
I'm trying to remember if it was WIU where people were impressed with their concessions (really good sandwiches and whatnot), or if that was Illinois State. Not that that has anything to do with tailgating.

Would be great to see some ISU or SIU fans in Macomb. We could have a big conference tailgate.

Did you pay the fee for the tailgate lot?pantherrob82 wrote:Would be great to see some ISU or SIU fans in Macomb. We could have a big conference tailgate.
I'm not going to do that, I'll park somewhere else and walk to the stadium I guess.
I've never been there though so I have no idea how it is set up. I can't use my Bing Maps 3D thing to check it out either, because Macomb still doesn't have that...even though my home town of about 800 does.

I will be riding the train down on Saturday morning. I will be looking for the Capn's flags once I get to Hanson Field and Q parking lot! Can't really tell you how many people will be there. The athletic department has done a good job getting the word out and creating hype. Of course, fall break begins on Friday, and I am not sure how many students will stay around. Multiple bomb threats from a dumb xxx kid from Chicago who was caught recently has caused some students to be a bit weary but football team deserves support after the great turn-around of 2010!!!
By the way, the east side of the stadium and the entrance ways are pure class. The west side is scheduled for a much needed makeover in the near future. Turf will arrive next year, but no matter what, it is a great venue surrounded by campus buildings and fall trees. Pics of plans for the new westside can be found in all of WIU's athletic pressguides! WIU and UNI have alot in common as far as history and education. The fact that UNI is in a large metropolitan area if you can call any Iowa city that, definitely has helped the Panther fan base. Captn says Hanson was his favorite place to play. Mike Scifris still is partial to the UNI Dome!

Picked up my tailgate permit, so I'm ready to go. It's for two cars, so if anyone wants to park there with me, get hold of me and park next to The Cap'n.
Looks like I'll be in the CB lot just NE of the stadium. Tons of food, Miller High Life and Schlitz tall boys on ice already. Italian sausage, brats, chips, macaroni salad and, if I get motivated, brownies. Picking up Lt. Cat at school early, traveling to the Quad Cities and spending the night there.
Go Cats!
