rivalry trophies
Inspired by the Great Divide Trophy thread, let's see your rivalry trophies. Here's the Bayou Classic Trophy (it's not the best looking but I'd take a paper cup if it meant beating Grambling for it) had to go back a couple years to see Southern holding it

Re: rivalry trophies
What the hell is the base of that? I need a long side view
We don't really have one. Maybe we'll get one for the I35 Rivalry that will take off once we get into the WAC

Re: rivalry trophies
There are only two trophies UNI gives a damn about.
One we have now gotten 15 times....the other....well it's coming, and sooner rather than later.

Re: rivalry trophies
Neither of the trophies for Delaware's two concocted rivalries are worth linking.

If we had a rivalry trophy I'd probably say the same thing.tampajag wrote:I would wager that most people care about those trophies, but that doesn't negate a good old fashioned rivalry trophy. There are only two trophies UNI gives a damn about.

The closest thing we have to a rivalry game is the game where we happen to play the other team from the conference that decided to step up and challenge UNI for the conference title.
Lately that has been SIU, however, we have still won 6 of 10 with 5 of those going to us for the auto bid.
There's no point to a rivalry trophy that will end up in the same place year after year after year after year

I understand where you're coming from. I don't like manufactured rivalries. If we had a rivalry trophy I'd probably say the same thing.tampajag wrote:

IMO the best part of a rivalry is holding that trophy to the point where it doesn't make sense to even bring it to the game.

Check my new sig, and you'll see the only team worth having a trophy with for UNI is SIU.

Re: rivalry trophies
The closest thing we had to a rivalry used to be the annual Governor's Cup where the Gov from Washington State wagered a basket of apples against UM or MSU's tote bag of sheep.
We now have The Dam Cup with PSU to commemorate our shared boarder with Oregon and the impressive hydro dams along the mighty Columbia River. I believe the trophy looks something like this:

I think they get some AAA rated credit default swaps, or is that what the loser gets?Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Does the winner get stock tips?Ivytalk wrote:Harvard and Yale play for the GOLDMAN SACHS TROPHY!

Perhaps that was PSU's problem. No one wanted the dam cup.JALMOND wrote:Last thing I want is a Dam(n) Cup.kalm wrote:The closest thing we had to a rivalry used to be the annual Governor's Cup where the Gov from Washington State wagered a basket of apples against UM or MSU's tote bag of sheep.

I don't think you get the dam cup just for winning the dam game. I think it is a point total for winning a bunch of dam contests.
I believe the actual trophy looks more like:

Re: rivalry trophies
Marker is pretty cool!! 75lbs. I think ndsu & uni should have a trophy that the LOSER gets. Like a 'dam birds' hat.....those hats with bird poop all over them. Haha
Or something where the winner would run as a team to the object and hand.it to.the.dejected loser.....Haha humiliating!!

Sac State and UC Davis compete in the Causeway Cup, this year is the 57th edition. The trophy is an actual portion of the elevated Yolo Causeway which connects Sacramento and Davis. The trophy has been used for about ten years since it was taken from the Causeway during repairs. Previous to that the schools competed for an old carriage.
