Re: NEC Pick'em Week 10
Albany @ Sacred Heart - I've changed my mind on this one. The Pioneers are a much better team than their record indicates, and the Great Danes continue to play like daschunds.
Bryant @ SFPA - I've changed my mind on this one too. I'm 0-for-2 so far, but I'll name this game my NEC UPSET OF THE WEEK. The Bulldogs have lost all three of their other road games this season, and the Red Flash have shown flashes of brilliance this year.
CCSU @ RMU - I'm sorry Blue Devil fans. I just don't see this one being as close as some people predict (hope?). Russ and Sinclair will run over, through, and around the CCSU defense all day long. And it will be a loooooong day for the boys from Connecticut.
Monmouth @ Wagner - Going from being a serious contender to an also-ran after losing to Sacred Heart at home last week, the Hawks make the short drive to Staten Island to regain their mojo and keep Hameline from achieving his 200th win for another week.

Albany @ Sacred Heart - I'm picking against the Danes because they really suck. It will be tight, but I have zero faith left.
Bryant @ SFPA - SFPA is coming off a strong showing at Cal Poly. I hope Bryant is flying to Loretta. If not this game will be an easier win then expected for SFPA.
CCSU @ RMU - RMU is a really strong team. RMU is a very strong ground team. CCSU isn't very good against the rush. RMU by 14 and on to the Playoffs.
Monmouth @ Wagner - Not sure what happened to Monmouth last week, but I think they'll figure it out this week and recoup.

Your comments on the Danes are spoken like a diehard fan that has been crushed.... I get that same feeling everytime the Flyers make a bad play.... For some reason, it just made me laugh out loud. Being a football fan is just not as easy as it looks!!!! Hang in there, Albany will be back. (I like your SFUP pick as well)

Re: NEC Pick'em Week 10
Albany @ SHU: Both teams were on opposite sides of upsets last weekend. After RMU and CCSU, the rest of the NEC can be beaten any given Saturday. This one could go either way but I have to go with the Danes. Albany 27-21
Bryant @ St. Francis (Pa): The Red Flash made a very respectble showing at Cal Poly last week particularly on the offensive side of the ball. I am going with Bryant because at this point in the year the 5-3 team is more motivatd than the 1-7. Bryant 34-24
CCSU @ RMU: Probably the biggest NEC game ever with the winner likely headed for a NCAA playoff game. I like the home team in a real battle to the finish. RMU 24-21
Monmouth @ Wagner: Although Wagner seems to have Monmouth's number on the road and visa versa, it would be against the Seahawk Code of Competitive Behavior to pick Monmouth. Hamline get's #200. Wagner 28-20

Re: NEC Pick'em Week 10
Very, tough week to pick!
Albany @ Sacred Heart - SHU has a Sr. QB and a very good offense. Albany is young and continues to struggle.
Bryant @ SFPA - Flash have to feel good about that Cal Poly game and Bryant isn't much more than their RB.
CCSU @ RMU - Upset alert: CCSU rallies from behind to win a tough, well fought game.
Monmouth @ Wagner - Hawks fell in a trap game, but seem to be the better at this point in the season.

Re: NEC Pick'em Week 10
Yeah its been a tough season. I could have dealt with everything except the Bryant loss. Our offensive line, which was supposed to be the rock of our entire team, has just flat out been bad this year. They're soft. Very uncharacteristic of an Albany team and very tough to watch.DetroitFlyer wrote:danefan wrote:Albany @ Sacred Heart - I'm picking against the Danes because they really suck. Re: NEC Pick'em Week 10
Albany @ Sacred Heart
Albany has lost 3 games in a row. SHU has won 2 in a row. SHU is 7 points away from being 6-3 on the season.
Albany's Leathley needs some help in this game especially from his OL. Bryant got 5 sacks last game.
I can't believe it’s come to this but I think SHU at home against a below average Albany team will pull it out again in the 4th quarter.
SHU 23-21
Bryant @ SFPA
Bryant is 5-3 & SFPA is 1-7. Bryant is 0-3 on the road & SFPA is 1-2 at home.
(Bryant + road game) x (SFPA + home game) / SHU results = ????
SFPA 24-20
CCSU @ RMU
Kickoff Weather Forecast
38 degrees but it will feel like 32 degrees and they are calling for some earlier snow showers.
All-Time for RMU against CCSU = 12-4 but that was before CCSU got good.
It's the last home game for the Colonial Seniors who have helped turn the program around. I don't see them wanting their last home game to be a disappointment. These Seniors know what is in front of them.
CCSU has to control the Colonials in the 1st half. Of the 89 points RMU has scored in its last three games, 73 have come in the first half. Despite the early success in recent games, 41.2 percent (96-of-233) of RMU’s scoring so far this season has come in the fourth quarter.
I think the Rushing Attack lead by Myles Russ (and mix in a little of Jeff Link here and there) and the OL will be too much for CCSU. If CCSU attempts to load up the box against the Colonial's rushing attack then QB Sinclair will
do some damage against that very tough CCSU secondary.
The rush D for the Colonials will be tested but again it will be a bend but don't break style and they will force CCSU into 2nd & 3rd and longs.
The Colonial celebrate their NEC Conference Title and hopefully they don't dump water on Coach Walton..too cold for that.
RMU 28-13
Monmouth @ Wagner
Interesting fact: Wagner & Monmouth have faced each other 17 times and Wagner has only won at home twice (2-6 at home vs. Monmouth)
Will the SHU defeat cause Monmouth to fold against Wagner? Was the pre-season hype too much for Wagner?
I think Special Teams will be the difference in this game and no one within the NEC is better in Special Teams than Monmouth's Jose Gumbs. I know he is great on D but I think he will make a big play on Special Teams that lead the Hawks to a big 2nd half come from behind victory.
Monmouth 38-34

The key to Albany's woes all season fixed itself today - the Offensive Line woke up.
Fr. Dillon Romain - 103 yards rushing, 2TDs
Soph. Drew Smith - 97 yards rushing, 2TDs

Also, excited to see Bryant play a complete game for the first time since Week 3. I am excited for the Bryant v. RMU game next week!
