How many schools...
have "flag girls" that are men who live an alternative style of loving?
YSU was the first time I've seen that. Just curious if anyone else has run across it.

I've seen it before elsewhere. Don't remember where it was.

Re: How many schools...
My bisexual friend was on ODU's team last year, but didn't have the time for it this year. It's an all female team this season; there was an Asian dude on it for a few games early on this season, but not anymore. However, I don't know him nor his sexual orientation.
Weird question btw.

Re: How many schools...
Why is it a weird question? I saw something I've never seen before and wondered how common it was. I've also never seen a male dance team member. I suppose sexual orientation plays no part in the question.∞∞∞ wrote:My bisexual friend was on ODU's team last year, but didn't have the time for it this year. Re: How many schools...
If when you say "flag girls" you mean "color guard" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_guard_(flag_spinning" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) ) then Jax State probably has more than almost any other FCS school. We have had both sexes on our color guard for as long as I can remember (my 1st JSU game was in 1990). They seem, to me, to be better than the females and at JSU they often spin the rifles instead of flags. As for the "alternate loving" part, I'll let you ask them that yourself.

Re: How many schools...
I know of some male cheerleaders who aren't "alternative" and actually do cheerleading because it gives a scholarship to pay for their school and the school doesn't have gymnastics or other similar types of teams. Then I also know some who.....

Wanna have your mind blown? Google Madison Scouts or Rosemont Cavaliers.
And SIU has one male this year.
@jackson state: still have the DCI corp based there?

I don't remember what years it was, but it was quite a few years ago that UM had a guy that was a flag bearer.

TXST has male colorguard members...have for a very long time.
FYI - DCI is Drum Corps International, many of the Corps are all male, ergo, male colorguard

There was a guy on the UNI flag team in the early 90s.

No idea, but the Sac State cheerleaders and dance team is attractive enough to where I need not care/look at the flag team.

I don't think UD has any this year..but they have had 'flag boys' in previous years. As for the 'alternative' love style.. don't know about that.. but if not they were certainly missing a good chance.

App State has one. I might be the most "alternative" person I have ever seen. He stuck out like a sore thumb for the pregame routine at KBS for the Elon-App game.

Legitimately thought it was Jackson State. Spirit from JSU or whatever was the only name they ever went by that I knew, but yeah, it was from Jacksonville State.JSU02 wrote:@who????siuham wrote:

They also probably do not wear sparkly red shirts and girl pants.JSU02 wrote:If when you say "flag girls" you mean "color guard" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_guard_(flag_spinning" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) ) then Jax State probably has more than almost any other FCS school. Now that you say that, I think we've had a few. I just don't think they had a feminine side like this guy.HI54UNI wrote:There was a guy on the UNI flag team in the early 90s.
Re: How many schools...
fyi, jackson state is an HBCU, which means its band is the polar opposite of any drum corp/corp style band. Jacksonville State's band, the marching southerners, is about as close to a drum corp as a college band can get, except for the fact the Southerners are over twice the size of the largest DCI drum corps. But to answer your question, they are back to Spirit of Atlanta, but they still practice at JSU and we will surely host their home show at our new stadium for the 2011 DCI season. its such a strange relationship...siuham wrote:Legitimately thought it was Jackson State. You took far too much offense to that.
I haven't followed DCI for a good 4 years now since I last auditioned for Blue Coats.
HBCU's have a great tradition, there's nothing wrong in their style.
