Game of the Week: #23 Wofford at #13 Georgia Southern, 6 p.m.
These teams are two mirror images of each other. Both are led by strong defenses (they rank 1 and 2 in the conference) and triple option offenses. Georgia Southern has Jaybo Shaw running the offense and the explosive Robert Brown in the backfield. Brown is averaging 77.7 yards per game and already has two touchdowns in three games. And he is just a freshman. Forgot to mention that. Wofford, on the other hand, is a team full of talent and that is reaping the benefits from all the playing time its players received last year during their injury-plagued 2009 season. The key to their offense is the SoCon’s leading rusher, Eric Breitenstein, who has 512 rushing yards and nine touchdowns through just four games. Breitenstein has been a hoss this year and will be a load for the Eagle defense to try to take down. The game promises to be an old-school slugfest, dominated by time of possession and turnovers. The winner of this game puts themselves in solid position for a playoff spot and a chance at a conference title. Best way to pick a winner in this game might be to flip a coin.
#13 Georgia Southern 23, #23 Wofford 21.
i'm thinking more like wofford 27 southern 24. won in the trenches!!!
