Maybe we'll get through the playoffs without giving up 300 yards rushing to someone for once!*

Apparently it didn't work out at NDSU, but I was really pleased when he re-surfaced in Missoula.

And assuming we don't face some dude named Taiwan Jones again :ohno: .

If nothing else, this D is MUCH more interesting to watch than the one Paulson put on the field.

From what I understand, Bohl completely knee-capped Breske's ability to scheme/lead a defense, and was then made the scapegoat for the Bison being terrible

Breske's defense has been great this year, but Taiwan Jones ran wild for one reason: the Griz keep biting on the draw play. The vast majority of Taiwan's yards and a good chunk of all the other rushing yards the Griz have allowed came on draw plays.

Whatever. Ndsu had a horrible defense under him. It's all about the right kind of athlete for.his.scheme.

Just to be clear, I'm not insinuating anything about the talent or effort of the individual Bison players when Breske was there. It just didn't work out. Shit happens.

I'm glad you guys like him, he didn't fit in at all here....Seemed like him and Bohl clashed on what the defense should do.

Yeah I think we just didn't have the right kind of players to run his scheme that year. He runs the 3-4 right? I myself like the 3-4 better than 4-3, but there are a couple crucial players that you need to run the 3-4 really well.......namely a stud of a nose tackle that consistently absorbs two blockers, which allows the LB's to run free. Gratzek was on the team then, but would have been a Rfr or sophmore than..he definitely would have fit that mold his senior season, just ask the cat o-lineman about him. haha

We HAD that guy, until half-way through the MSU game. Not so sure about what we've got THIS week....

Doesn't it seem weird to any other Griz fans that he gets POW for his performance against an SEC offensive line, then basically disappears for the rest of the year? :? :?

Breske has historically been a 4-3 guy, but he's been running both this year (mainly using 3 down linemen in passing situations & against passing teams).

He's one of those guys that loves zone blitzes. He also likes to blitz DBs.

I think he got dinged up & missed some time the next couple games (not sure, though, other than he didn't play much). Duncan is (was?) at least as good, though, so he got to stay as the starter.

Our backup is pretty good, so there won't be too much of a drop off. But as we all know in the FCS, you just don't want to lose a player of that impact to injury. Not enough guys on the roster.
