FCS Independents
FCS Independents
With all of the talk of expansion and schools being realigned and left out of conferences, what is the history of Independents in FCS football? I know SUU was Independent from their move-up to D1 until the Great West was formed. If we don't get invited to the Big Sky I would assume that would be something we would have to look at (it seems to be in the water in Utah).

TBirdz- I hope the Big Sky adds you guys, our AD gave an interview during halftime and wants to start some sort of rivalry trophy for the winner of the NAU/SUU game (mentioned something like a "Border trophy"). This could lead to the beginning of a great regional rivalry between the two schools.

Stony Brook was an independent for 2 years I think between the NEC and Big South.TBirdz wrote:With all of the talk of expansion and schools being realigned and left out of conferences, what is the history of Independents in FCS football? Tough to do in FCS though and even tougher west of the Mississippi.

I think it's a foregone conclusion SUU gets an invite to the BSC as an all-sports member, especially with Montana WAC'ing off. Just gotta be a little patient.
