1. We won, they did not.(plays to the attitude of the next weeks practice)
2. We play them at home.
3. .........anybody got anything else.

They played a decent FBS school. You played NGU, the D2 whipping boy.CSUBUCDAD wrote: 1. We won, they did not.(plays to the attitude of the next weeks practice)
I'll give you that. Buc Field is a hard place to play, though not for the usual reasons.CSUBUCDAD wrote: 2. We play them at home.

Something to consider here is that Jamie Childers knows the Bucs system inside and out. Also, Willy Korn is one hell of a QB. Also, NG runs almost the identical offense as Wofford with the addition of a deadly play action passing game. They will win allot of games this year in DII I assure you that. Also, keep in mind that 14 of those 31 points were scored in the last 3 possessions they had with their 1st team O against our 2nd and 3rd deep D.ToTheLeft wrote:Depending on how strong/ready the Wofford D is, you might be able to keep up with them, but a team that allowed 30+ to NGU won't hold the Wofford offense down.
I'll still be rooting for the Bucs, but with limited expectations.

CSU has been close to Wofford in the past. Like I said, in 1999 the CSU defense held Wofford to 6 points, but the Terriers scored twice on our offense. To beat Wofford, a team of equal or lesser talent must play absolutely mistake free. CSU has not done that yet. In 2000, the Bucs were very competitive, but Wofford scored two big plays that basically sealed the 24-10 win. CSU historically has had a knack of hanging tough, but giving up that crucial big play that always sealed their fate. In 2005, 2006 CSU had the ball bounce their way for a change, and had some good success.CSUBUCDAD wrote:Something to consider here is that Jamie Childers knows the Bucs system inside and out. Honestly I look for a much much closer game than what everyone is saying Saturday. It will be our big test for sure.

I understand your assessment, but Wofford's offense has changed immensely since those days....bucs90 wrote:My beloved Bucs are playing our old nemesis Wofford. My thoughts:
The NGU vs CSU game wasn't nearly that close. It was 41-17 late, and CSU wanted to get a look at some freshmen. NGU got a couple late scores. And, NGU got 14 points off a 76 yard run, and a punt return, both of which the NGU players broke several tackles. Bad job by CSU tackling. Talked to some players after the game. They said they took NGU way too lightly, and the NGU staff obviously is familiar with CSU schemes b/c a lot of the NGU coaches came from CSU. So, nice job at NGU of improving, bad job of CSU coming out flat and under-estimating them.
On to Wofford....
CSU has never beaten Wofford. Came close (within 10 points) a couple times. In the late 90's and 2000 the CSU defense was actually able to handle that offense well, but just couldn't put up any points, and thus, turnovers hurt those teams bad. I believe it was 1999 that CSU only gave up 6 points to Wofford. Unfortunately, Wofford scored another 14 against the CSU offense via turnovers, lost 20-0. In 2000 CSU gave up 17 points I believe, with the CSU offense giving up 7 to Wofford via turnover. So, in the past the CSU defense has shown it can slow the Wofford offense, but has never been able to put up points. Now, CSU's offense appears to be the strength of the team.
To beat Wofford, CSU will need their offense to play like the CSU offense of 2005-2006, and the defense to play like the CSU defense of 1999-2000. I think they are capable, just gotta do it. But it'll be tough. Hopefully, it will be HOT AND HUMID at CSU on Saturday. We'll need every bit of help against Wofford.
I agree with this statement and it might be CSU's best chance since the advent of football in Buc-ville. I'm picking CSU to win this one. The Bucs are a dangerous team this year.bigSfan89 wrote:This is our best chance since 2005 to best Wofford.

you should do well in the Big Southbucs90 wrote:Congrats to Wofford, for a 13th straight time, they beat CSU after the Bucs put forth a tremendous effort. CSU put quite a scare into Wofford, leading midway through the 4th. With about 5:00 to play and down by 4, CSU stalled out on offense and had to punt. That was the ballgame.
Every year I played against Wofford, it was always the same. It wasn't that they were much bigger, stronger, faster than us. A few were, but we always thought we matched up very well with them physically. It was just that they are so damn good and disciplined. A lot of the games in this 13 game series, which reportedly ends now forever, were close into the 4th, and EVERY time Wofford found the ways to make the plays, year in year out, to pull away and take home wins in the 10 point range, and several in the 20+ point range.
Congrats Wofford, you guys are truly one of the toughest opponents CSU has ever faced.

I watched/listened to most of it. CSU was right with em' until the end and it was a hard fought game. CSU looks like they could have some life this yearyoungterrier wrote:you should do well in the Big Southbucs90 wrote:Congrats to Wofford, for a 13th straight time, they beat CSU after the Bucs put forth a tremendous effort. I can't really comment on the game other than we played pretty sloppy (I didn't watch....dern cross country meets)
