Vandals are beginning to think (right or wrong) that their athletics are going to take off, thanks to the recent success of the football and basketball teams (the two teams that at least would have to join the Big Sky if they indeed drop down). Times have changed, both for them and for us. Now, the only way they will consider a move to the Big Sky is if the conference as a whole goes FBS. This move would have made more sense just a couple years ago when both Vandal squads were struggling.

I admire W. Wildcat and other Big Sky posters who are willing to enter the discussion over there and attain a ranking of "junior vandal". For me, I'll keep the junior vandal moniker only for the wife. :D

I would love to see the BCS conferences bolt from the NCAA, and then the bigger FCS conferences become FBS. That would rock! damn shame Idaho-Montana rival is no longer around.

Idaho never should have moved up. Let's see if they can sustain their "sucess"

I think this is a telltale season for Idaho. It's got to be tough for the Moscow/Pullman twin cities to support two BCS programs.

If they want to stay competitive at the BCS level they'll need to draw better and enlarge the stadium.

If the WAC disolves, that wouldn't help matters any.

I wish them the best of luck, but I can see two ways this ends badly.
1. They do poorly, and they return to BCS doormat status.
2. They do well, and their coach get's grabbed by a bigger program. There's a chance the coaches alma mater will be looking for a new coach soon. Could they afford a big name coach to take what would be an up and coming program, or would they need to gamble again on getting a unknown coach with potential. What are the odds of hitting twice on unknown coaches with potential?

I'll be routing for the Vandals.

Humanitarian bowl win changed things, imo. before last season I was hard on the Idaho to FCS wagon, but last season went well for them and that put them in a position where bouncing them to FCS would be problematic

8-5 and a humanitarian bowl win against Bowling Green is probably the best they can hope for. They lack the market of Boise, Reno, or even Missoula and if WSU ever starts winning again they further get hurt. They should have stayed in the Big Sky.
