Imagine an 11 game schedule where every opponent is ranked, that includes 7 top 5 teams, 9 power conference champions, 2 national champions, 2 national runners up, and 9 away games.
That's what the big sky at large bids have faced since 2004, and they are 4-7.
Respectable?

Re: Brutal
how many of those 4 wins are owned by Montana? or have they been the auto-bid all those years?

Every at-large team in the playoffs will face a ranked opponent.
Heck, almost every playoff participant is ranked (the only exception being the occasional auto-qualifier from a weak league, and those go to power conference auto-qualifiers).

Re: Brutal
none of those are Montana wins, and you're right about the inclusion of ranked teams, 7 in the top 5 is enough.

Re: Brutal
Yeah, it is respectable. 4-7 isn't great, but when you figure 9 of the games were on the road, most likely against another power conference school with an equal or better W - L record, I'd say 4-7 is respectable.kalm wrote:Imagine an 11 game schedule where every opponent is ranked, that includes 7 top 5 teams, 9 power conference champions, 2 national champions, 2 national runners up, and 9 away games.

So now were 6-7 without any games against the patriot, ovc, or meac and frequently against a mvc or slc champ and/or a seed.UNHWildCats wrote:Since 2004 these are the records of the big 4 conferences in the playoffs when not facing a conference mate.

Last year, Weber beat #3 Cal Poly in the first round and on the road.DJH wrote:how many of those 4 wins are owned by Montana? or have they been the auto-bid all those years?

A lot more similar than one would imagine from all the extreme homer posts. It makes me want to congratulate all four conferences!UNHWildCats wrote:Since 2004 these are the records of the big 4 conferences in the playoffs when not facing a conference mate.

Re: Brutal
Even though Weber won the auto-bid by virtue of the head-to-head victory over Montana, Montana was a seed due to WSU's loss to EWU in the last regular season game.Mvemjsunpx wrote:There should be some. Montana was an at-large last season.kalm wrote:none of those are Montana wins
