Liberty up to 13-0... but just turned the ball over on a bad snap and CSU has it in striking distance.

Liberty looks bad today guys. I don't need us to lose any more respect, but we are really struggling against this terrible, terrible team. Hopefully we can put some distance between us in the last 20 minutes.

Liberty takes a 20-13 lead. Sloppy game, but it's just felt like LU has been the better team all game. Just shot ourselves in the foot so many times. Here's to hoping we hold them off, score again, and put this in the books.

LU pulls out the win. Don't know how, but we did. Good teams win games, and LU won this game.

It doesn't eliminate us... which is the only good thing. We need to win more convincingly against Presby, VMI, G-W, and SBU...

terrible terrible??? what are you smoking dude the CSU defense has shut down your offense today. Our turnovers gave you ten points and that is what killed us. Stop making excuses for pulling off a 7 point win when you know damn well it could have gone either way. I am getting real tired of the pompus, greater than thou attitudes from some of you guys who think just because a team held you to 20 points instead of your customary 40 points that is something wrong with your team and not that you are playing a team that had just as much of a shot at beating you as you did beating them.

Beat someone, then talk to me. Cry all you want, but until you beat someone, you need to not run your yap.

Your team is terrible. You can't beat anyone. Your high school stadium doesn't help you bring anyone decent in, either.

Sure, we're "arrogant" and "pompous", but CSU fans (all three of you) would be the same if you actually beat someone other than Savannah State.

You are pretty new here so I will defer further comment until we meet next year. Good luck the rest of the season for the Flames. Hopefully one day you will learn to see things in proper perspective as both our institutions teach. Then maybe you understand where I come from. Then again maybe some of the guys here and from the AGS days can fill you in.

Proper perspective? This is football. I am tired of being told I can't be proud of my team, and be honest about your team. Your team is terrible. Our team is worlds better than we showed today. Keep crying about how our fans act, and watch us with blurry eyes as we run away with the Big South.

What do I need to be filled in about? The fact that LU used to be terrible? The fact that CSU used to be a solid program, and has won a Big South Championship? That's the past. We have a whole new Athletic Department and football program that is committed to excellence, and has the resources and backing to do so.

So live off the past and hope it comes back again, we'll focus on the future.

Fuckin liberty..good win.

On a side note, a minivan with 5 Liberty stickers, flags and trailer hitch couldn't navigate traffic. It's not difficult. The lane says turn only yet these Flames figure you can go straight when clearly that meant going straight into oncoming traffic. Fucker then pulls into my lane when I have no room to go and gets pissed.

Totheleft,
CSU never won the championship. They shared it with CCU. Regardless, CSU does suck and every now and again will surprise you.

Okay. Since you are pretty new to this thing and think you can pass judgment on our program, our history, where we are, and where we are heading, here is some proper perspective for you. You might want to do some research and try to consider the research under the proper context.

Currently...

Charleston Southern is in the process of building a solid program under the leadership of Coach Mills and his staff. It is a process and we realize that. We had a great year in 2005 when we tied for the Big South Conference Championship. 2005 was a great year for many reasons. Since then, our record has dropped off a little because instead of scheduling easier opponents to pad the record of our program, we are scheduling tough FCS opponents (Wofford) and many FBS opponents (Hawaii, Miami (FL), Florida, Miami (OH), Central Florida, South Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, etc.) so that we can take advantage of some pay days to put money into our program so that we can build the facilities and make upgrades to get us where we need to be and to keep us there. It takes time and money and is a process. We realize that and are willing to do what it takes and at times take the lumps to get there. We are thinking big picture and long term. Our team and our program is NOT terrible. It is growing and getting better and moving in the right direction.

Now about the past...

You say we used to be a solid program. Obvioulsy you don't know much about where we've come from under the leadership of Coach Mills. Let me show you. When I stepped on the campus of Charleston Southern as a freshman in 1994 we were not a very good football team and continued to suffer through many years of bad football because of many reasons (lack of committment to football - financially, scholarhips, etc.; poor coaching; subpar talent, etc.). I sat through many home games where we were beaten up and down the field and, quite frankly, had no business even being on the field because it was a joke. Our records during that time looked like this...

1991 3-7
1992 3-7
1993 3-8
1994 0-11
1995 1-10
1996 2-8
1997 1-9
1998 3-8
1999 4-6
2000 5-6
2001 5-6
2002 4-8 (0-3)

As you can see, these results hardly allow us to be considered a "solid program" as you stated.

Then, the school started to make a genuine committment to football and really started trying to re-organize the athletic program as a whole and run it like a business. We had to cut some programs to allow us to put that money to other programs and to upgrade coaching staffs by adding salary and adding staff and
to upgrade facilities the best we could.

Coach Mills has steadily moved our program forward by improving the record, improving our talent, upgrading the schedule, and improving facilities as best he can. Since Coach Mills' arrival, our record look like this...

2003 1-11 (0-4)
2004 5-5 (1-3)
2005 7-4 (3-1)
2006 9-2 (2-2)
2007 5-6 (1-3)
2008 7-5 (3-2)

When you consider these results in proper context, you can see that we are building a solid program and are moving in the right direction.

So, there you go. Now you know. You are a little better educated on Charleston Southern football. The future is bright.

Go Charleston Southern!!! Go Buccaneers!!! Go Blue!!!
