BUT IT FEATURED THE GRIZ! That trumps NC, Thanksgiving, New Years, etc... and it was IN Missoula. You really expect anyone to believe the Griz would bring 20k to Spokane to see JMU play McNeese on the first Sunday of January?AZGrizFan wrote:Griz/Wofford wasn't the NC game.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving is historically the lowest attended game of the year at Wa/Griz. Anyone with a brainstem knows that.89Hen wrote:BUT IT FEATURED THE GRIZ! How well does the rest of the Big Sky? Great West? Would you guys in Missoula have to charter a flight like you do to chatty? Would people charter a flight to go see a game their team won't be playing in? I believe you guys have one of the strongest, loyalist, die hard fan bases out there... and I agree, fans over here should try to make it to Chatty (I'm thinkin about makin the trip this year... JMU or no JMU... eh, no JMU), but it's the question of whether people will pay to travel to the game, shack up in a hotel, etc to not see their team play... maybe people have something better to spend a couple hundred on? I'm actually being sincere here, no BS. Promise Ursy Wursy.![]()

And that means, only 10k - 12k of the "teams" fans need to show up. Perfect scenario....it's what happens every year in Chatty, too.89Hen wrote: Look, Delaware hasn't had less than 20,000 fans at a regular season game in a long time. If Newark hosted the NC game between NAU (they're going to the NC this year) and Elon... you'd have 10k AT THE MAX of Hen fans and that's being super generous.

Looks like I better consider a new roof as well.Col Hogan wrote:Not until you get that kitchen rehab completed...

Yes, I know that. But is also had the Griz playing in it. Any game with the Griz in it is going to have 10x the attendance of a non-Griz game. The worst part is you know that, but won't admit it.AZGrizFan wrote:The Saturday after Thanksgiving is historically the lowest attended game of the year at Wa/Griz. Well, we'll probably never get the chance to prove it, so it's a moot point.89Hen wrote:Yes, I know that. But is also had the Griz playing in it. Like talking to a friggin wall. Spokane = 10k total attendance.AZGrizFan wrote:And that means, only 10k - 12k of the "teams" fans need to show up. Perfect scenario....it's what happens every year in Chatty, too.

Let's hope so for I-AA's sake.AZGrizFan wrote:Well, we'll probably never get the chance to prove it, so it's a moot point. All the East coast haters will have their way

So, let me get this straight: If, say, JMU were playing UNI in Spokane and we could count on 2500 Griz fans showing up, you believe only 7500 fans from the two schools COMBINED would show up?89Hen wrote:Like talking to a friggin wall. Good for you.89Hen wrote:No... just your number is. History has shown time and time again.... when the NC game is played in a place where both teams fans have to fly the numbers are FAR lower than when it's somewhere close to at least one of the teams. You are just being stubborn on that FACT.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:You're not getting the point that there would be a ton of fans that don't have anything to do with either team playing in the game if EWU/Montana don't make it. I could give a **** less if you believe the number.
Since we're just throwing out what we think then I guess I think there would be 25,000 at the game and another 200,000 outside the game waiting to get in if they get the chance. They both are rooted in bullshit.
Do you think UM and EWU fans are that different than GSU fans? I showed you that when GSU hosted it had half the number of fans when GSU wasn't in it. And that was a year with YSU and Marshall in it... two very rabid fanbases. The 9 lowest attendances in NC game history were Pocatello x2, Wichita Falls TX x2, Tacoma x2, Sacramento, Orlando and Charleston SC. What's interesting to note is that Charleston SC was so low because it featured Montana State and LaTech.... two teams that had to fly.
Keep ignoring the stats and make all kinds of wild claims about Montana fans driving the three hours to see Furman play UNI. Will some come? Sure. Will they come in great numbers. Please. IF (and that's a big if) the NCAA is stupid enough to put the game in Spokane, I'll be here so you can throw it in my face when Griz and Eagle fans pack the stadium to see Richmond play SIU.

Yup.AZGrizFan wrote:So, let me get this straight: If, say, JMU were playing UNI in Spokane and we could count on 2500 Griz fans showing up, you believe only 7500 fans from the two schools COMBINED would show up?

that right there proves that no sane person would travel to that part of the country in the ass-end of winter...Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:And that right there shows the difference between Griz fans and you pretenders from the East coast.89Hen wrote: Yup.

same holds true for Fargo, but i'm not delusional about it, or maligning people for it - who the fvck want's to sit outside in -10 degree weather WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE TO

It is what it is. Besides Southern, you probably have the best travelling fans (long distance) than anyone. I've never questioned that. And in an odd way... that could help keep the game east of the Mississisppi. Maybe now at least you're finally starting to see the reasoning.Ursus A. Some are and some aren't. I've sat in the Tub in bitter cold and in rain to see the Hens play. But attendance IS down when it's crappy outside.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:People that love football and aren't a bunch of pussies.

The two worst attended games (5300 and 4400) in the history of I-AA both featured GSU and both were in Washington state. So much for that theory.AZGrizFan wrote:So you can piss and moan about "one team being able to drive" and all, but if that "one team" ain't GSU or ASU, Chatty is pretty much ****.

Dude, that was 25 YEARS ago. And it was also before the phenomenon that IS Griz Football took hold. If you're going to insist on using this logic train, I'm going to start counting Boise State's Idaho State's, and Montana State's NC's in the BSC tally again.89Hen wrote:The two worst attended games (5300 and 4400) in the history of I-AA both featured GSU and both were in Washington state. SO ADD 5000 MORE GRIZ FANS AND WHAT IS THE TOTAL? ARGH!AZGrizFan wrote:Dude, that was 25 YEARS ago. And it was also before the phenomenon that IS Griz Football took hold. Tacoma is not a I-AA locale. Cheney is. Take 5,000 Griz fans, 5,000 locals and 5,000 travelers and you've got just as good attendance as you do at Chatty. I would GUARANTEE you that (outside of the three ASU games) Cheney would have higher attendance than Chatty.89Hen wrote:SO ADD 5000 MORE GRIZ FANS AND WHAT IS THE TOTAL? ARGH!AZGrizFan wrote:
