Man that would be a real "get" for us. What could he do with essentially the same recruiting base but with better facilities?

Also worth noting he was born and raised in the Capital Region (Saratoga) and still has a ton of ties to the Albany area.

My personal favorite is Pete Rossomondo at New Haven. Former OC at Albany. Rebuilt the New Haven program from scratch to a strong DII program. DII National Coach of the Year.

Cutting to the chase...there looks like 3 playoff caliber teams to me at this time: Towson State, Maine, Nova

I think its possible you could see a 4th coming from the Virginia conglomerate (JMU, W&M, Richmond).

Delaware might sneak out 8 wins too. You should be at 6-2 after the next two weeks (Albany and URI). Two wins out of Towson, W&M, Richmond and Nova isn't impossible.

They all will beat up on each other, but its possible that one or two more teams will sneak out 8 wins.

UNH would have to win out but they have Nova, W&M, JMU and Maine still so that's unlikely
Stony Brook would have to win out and they have to face Maine, JMU and Richmond still so that's unlikely.
Albany is done.
URI is done.

Don't forget there is 13 at-larges this year.

Agree on TU and Maine. Maine doesn't have to play TU or JMU.

I'm not sold on VU yet. They're 3-2 and after their nailbiting win at home over W&M are on game 2 of a brutal 5 game stretch:
@ TU
@ UNH
Maine
@ JMU
URI
UD

I believe they're down 2 starting LBs. They're likely to lose @ TU. They're way better than UNH, but that will be their 2nd straight road game. Maine will be favored. @ JMU and UD games will be tough for them. They're not going to run the table. At best they'll be 8-3. Worst case 5-6.

Bottom line playoff teams will be TU, Maine, and 2-3 of the following 5: Nova, W&M, UD, and the winner of the JMU/UR game.

Nova isn't getting in at 7-4. They have two losses already and will most likely lose to both Maine and Towson. Toss in JMU on the road as another potential loss. We'll see if UD can beat them with playoffs in sight.

They might very well get into a 24 team field at 7-4/6-2 as a 4th or 5th CAA team. There's a ton of ??? out there that makes it too hard to say after only 6 of 13 weeks:
-Does the Big Sky get 3 or 4 teams in?
-Does the MVFC get 3 or 4 teams in? (I think 3)
-Does the So-Con get only 1 or 2 teams in?
-Does the Southland get 2 in?
-Does the OVC get 2 in?
-Does the MEAC get 2 in (I think only 1).

-Big South likely gets 2 in, even though 3 of the 4 candidates to get in play TWO Div II....
-Patriot gets 2 (AQ and Fordham)

NEC and the Pioneer are the only 2 conferences that have 0 chance of getting an At Large...

Top three look like strong playoff teams. Four through six are still playoff candidates, depending on how they finish the regular season. Stony and UNH are in serious jeopardy at this point. Richmond has a foot in the grave and would need to win out. URI and Albany can draw up plays for 2014.

1. Towson- towson lost that game more than nova won it.
2. Villanova- great win, but see above.
3. Maine- black bears looking good for playoff berth.
4. Delaware- not rock solid, but 5-2 is 5-2 ya know.
5. James madison- see #4, hard to read the dukes.
6. New hampshire- the cats must have been pissed after the towson loss.
7. William&mary- not very impressed by holding on against penn.
8. Richmond- less impressed every week with the spiders.
9. Stony brook- start planning for next year.
10. Albany- great effort on saturday, just a little short.
11. Rhode island- the rams need to be in the NEC this year!!

Wait, UD's 5-2 after the last 2 weeks, only beating Albany by 3 is as you put it "5-2 is 5-2 ya know"
but W&M's 5-2 is as you put it "not very impressed by holding on against Penn"

ok homer...

Yep, that's about the way I'd have it. Maybe flip JMU and UD. Yeah, UD beat JMU by 7 in Newark, but you know the saying, you either get better or worse every week. The Hens the last 2 weeks look like they are headed south in a major way and JMU has appeared to have been getting better the last 2 weeks.

Maine was #2 last week......#1 Towson lost.......Maine moved up. Maine will either prove or disprove my ranking playing W&M and Villanova the next 2 weeks. A JMU fan calling me a "homer"........that's just precious!

1. Villanova- rounding into form
2. Towson- sloppy starts
3. Maine - they could be 1 or 2
4. JMU - aside from the 2nd half road loss at UD I think a consistent team
5. UD - I can't discount a 5-2 record, but the lack of style points has me worried
6. W&M - difficult to handicap. Most impressive outings were the losses IMO.
7. Richmond - I think a pretty good team can win any game. Backs against wall now though.
8. UNH - ditto to Richmond.
9. Stony Brook - they might be done winning for the year.
10. URI - beat Albany at Albany, so they have to be better than them, right?
11. Albany - nothing to lose, and play like it. Might steal one from someone.

Maine, W&M, and UNH are the three teams that I feel are still, mostly because of schedule to date, undefined. I am very interested to see how those teams play in their next few games.

1- Towson - gave away 21 quick points with TO and boneheaded penalties; if they play again nova is doomed
2- Maine - we'll see if they deserve this ranking...could run the table
3- UD - a bye week will get the Hens back on track if Devine is allowed to call the game...UD defense has talent to get better
4- JMU - has chance to roll through next four games
5- nova - got lucky...no one will give them 21 points to start and QB won't go 17-18 ever again...losing two of next three games will take the win out of nova's sails
6- W&M - Might have two more wins in them this year
7- UNH - playoff streak is over
8- UR - Spiders, with no realistic chance at playoffs, start mailing in games
9- Stony Brook - trying to salvage .500 season
10- URI - 2-10 looks like a real possibility
11- Albany - close, bur no cigar...might not get another win in 2013

I would drop Towson below Nova and Maine. They need to prove they can come out and be ready to play at the opening kick off. This was the 4th game in a row where they failed to show up until after the 1st quarter.

And UNH has only beaten 2 horrible teams, 1-5 Colgate and 2-5 URI. They're 2-3. Will be 2-4 after next Sat, and there will be some idiots still voting them top 25 based on beating 2 stiffs and losing to the 4 good teams they played. As usual, they have no defense. They are dead last in the CAA giving up 464 yards per game. 6 of their remaining 7 CAA opponents will score in the 30s-40s against them. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone hits in the 50s against them.
Their remaining schedule:
VU
@ SBU
@ W&M (before last season McDonnell was 0-9 vs Laycock)
JMU
@ Albany
Maine

In their 9 yr playoff run regular season OOC they went 3-0 six times, and 2-1 three times. Never did they lose 2 OOC games like they did this yr going 1-2. Their 9 yr playoff run will end. I think they finish under .500.
