So why the hell die you lose to them? I'm sure you'll find some way to discredit us if we beat App.EWURanger wrote:True, but seriously, USD is not a quality opponent. I'll reserve judgement until I see the Griz play a quality opponent in App.uofmman1122 wrote:That's what MSU thought last year.

Wear out opponents by having them return KOs, Punts and Mountaineer TOs for touchdowns

It was a bad loss for us either way, but USD lost a ton off of last year's squad which was very mediocre. Why would I discredit a win against App? They are a quality opponent.Grizalltheway wrote:So why the hell die you lose to them? I'm sure you'll find some way to discredit us if we beat App.EWURanger wrote:

Re: USD @ Griz Game Thread
Serious answer: Not only were they a much better team last year (only return 8 starters this year), but I heard from someone who has close ties to the team that we were absolutely emotionally deflated after losing to UW. We were used to winning and fully expected to.Grizalltheway wrote:So why the hell die you lose to them? I'm sure you'll find some way to discredit us if we beat App.EWURanger wrote:

Re: USD @ Griz Game Thread
Ballgame.
Griz win 35-24, and it wasn't even that close.
Griz rush for well over 300 yards. McKinney 26-32 for 214 yards and 2 TDs.
Apart from one 80-yards TD bomb, and one sustained drive, USD had nothing going.
USD 233 net yards.
Griz ran 98 plays in this one for 568 yards!
I suddenly feel some worries about this season melting away.

I think we're going to have to run more than 4 different plays against ASU to win.uofmman1122 wrote:Ballgame.

I just wanted to congratulate Montana on pulling the game. Early in the 3rd, it looked like things were going against you, but you turned that around. Good job.

Or have 4 or 5 of those damn sideline passes be returned for TD's going the other ways.AZGrizFan wrote:I think we're going to have to run more than 4 different plays against ASU to win.uofmman1122 wrote:Ballgame.

If we had gone down field more often, McKinney probably would have had 4 or 5 INTs. Kudos to the coaches for calling plays within his abilities.

I hear d that on the radio. DAMN good for them. I missed did Glenn talk on the radio today? Wondered what he had to say being on the opposite sideline.uofmman1122 wrote:34 first downs was a school record.

So did the Griz. New CB's, a QB who watched the Griz's last home game from the stands. Muffed punt and a blown coverage by a young corner kept USD in it. These things will get shored up throughout the season. This team could have folded when they got down 24-16 but they hung in there and pounded them in the end. Good start for a young team.

Great job by Phil Buck & company on the radio postgame show. First they said App State was "upset" by East Carolina, then they claimed that Morgan State upset Sam Houston in quadruple overtime (they actually beat Sacred Heart).

Holy crap!!!
34 1st downs.....98 plays and 568 yards....wow!!!
When I saw the score I thought it might have been close but not with those stats.
