The landfill is several miles south and the EPA has, over the past 20 years cleaned that place up - The winds must have been crazy that day?

Im sure you will be happy to hear the insanely popular FCS venue has redone the lighting and the sound. Both are a huge improvement for the fans. The turf will be replaced this coming summer.

If you enjoyed your visit we would certainly like to have you back but if you are as sensitive as you claim I would recommend you move into a bubble. Thanks for checking in! :thumb:

No, nothing out of the normal for being sensitive to smell. I found it humerous when offerd a "Bison Bomb" by a friendly Bison tailgater and told: "If you drink enough of these, you don't notice it!" I took his word for it but went inside instead. :tothehand: Still, it was a nice experience.

If indeed you did detect agricultural smells you must certainly be a city type person. In Stearns county Minnesota there are so many city people moving into the rural areas that the county gives them scratch and sniff cards so they will know what agricultural smells are. You see these overly sensitive people would buy their dream home in the country and then promptly start complaining to the county about the farming activities. Zoning has elimanated these problems for the most part anyway, but if you dont know about the world how can you be expected to live in it? Glad you had a good time.

Late in the second Jacks are getting pounded. I have seen some good team speed and some physical football from the Jacks in the first half. This game is not a measure of their season by any means. They lost big 2 ISU a few years back and made the playoffs.

Just before the half ISU 10-7.

Well, I have outside work to do now. Next up Dakota Big 3 member USD hosts EWU, a team from out west someplace,

The Fargodome is, as you state, a very nice and very comfortable facility. One gets the feeling that the playing field is subterranean which made for a unique experience. As a casual observer I felt that the lighting needed to be improved and the “manufactured sounds” from the P.A. system became annoying at times. Never-the-less it was a quality football atmosphere. However, tailgating from what the Bison faithful refer to as the “west lot” was short lived for me. There was a breeze from the west and, as I learned, to the west of the Fargodome are the hog, sheep, cattle and equestrian barns and beyond that to the west is a landfill. The tailgaters looked to be enjoying themselves but on that day, for me, no thanks. All and all it was nice visit. :thumb:
As a Bison fan who lives in the real world - your nose did not lie.

I lived on campus for my 3.5 years at SU and learned that seemingly no matter the wind, there was a corresponding smell...

North wind = north Fargo sewage treatment plant
Northwest wind = cold, somewhat of the animal bars
West wind = animal barns - STRONG
Southwest wind = Fargo municipal landfill - it just REEKED like sour milk.
South wind = depending on where you were on campus - on the north side you could occasionally smell the dining halls... not pleasant - further south - not much
Southeast = the wind never really blew from that direction...
East and northeast = Moorhead sugar beet plant... rare to get a wind from this direction - thank God... this was one of the WORST smells I've ever smelled IN MY LIFE.

Truth is - Fargo, and the NDSU campus in general had a lot of rather unpleasant smells - then in spring you'd get the floods - which brought a pretty awful set of smells all its' own.

This could probably be on new thread but Jerry Kill was taken to the hospital with some kind of sezuire but he is ok. The Gophs lost tonight. Things might start to deteriorate over there if the Coach doesnt get well.

NDSU @ University of Minnesota Gophers next game up for The BISON.

The Red Flash are a strong, game team. They have speed, They have determination. They have a lot of skill players. They are well coached. They are in great physical condition and they understand football. No wonder they lost by 8 or so to Cal Poly. That was a good test for the Flash. This game was a good experience. Remember Morningside? Think Red Flash. Welcome back to Fargo anytime. 8-)

The statistics compiled by the NDSU BISON Football Team are exactly what you should see when a teams opponents are over-matched. Neither team is a Jr. Varsity. The Montana poster that said that is being disrespectful to those programs.

The Flash came out strong. Had NDSU on its heels for a while. They played hard and ran fast.

NDSU exploded early with a 95 yd TD run by Sam Ojuri. It was a thing of beauty.

There was an INT by Carlton Littlejohn, great play, that he returned for a TD.

After that its a blur. 8 scoring drives.

Wes Hudson, red shirt freshman running back tallies up more than 100 yds/2 TDs.

Cooper Wahlo, Jr blocked a Flash punt and returned it for a TD.

Holloway pulled down a 22 yd TD pass, Matt Veldman pulled down an 18 ydr.

The defense started slow, maybe a little surprised by the speed and physical play, but the BISON Defense just kept getting stronger and stronger as the night wore on.

It was a great game. NDSU has this week off as they prepare for the Minnesota Gophers. The Gophers lost yesterday and are now 0-2.

I dont know if you can see the highlights without getting an all access pass but here is the link:

I think the UND fans will get a kick out of the team being led by the coaches, singing an Ode to the University! What fun! They were well aware of the UND score.

Final attendance: 18,143

West lot tailgate estimated at over 6,000, Tailgating is now going on in all lots. Liquor in the west lot only.

NDSU is now reaching the point Montana has been at. It doesnt matter who the opponent is, the fans are coming to see the home team.

Expect sellout crowds the rest of the way.

Absolutely. We can expect 17-18,000 no matter who is in town. When The Presitgious and wildly popular Fabaulous Fargo Dome reaches 80% - 90% capacity for a couple yrs NSDU has to make a decision: Stay and enjoy it or grow the program.

And the NDSU poster is being myopic. The opponents are overmatched. Statistics are blown out of proportion. Can't WAIT until NDSU sees a conference opponent across the line instead of a JV team.
