One big positive note.. UD has a potential emerging star at RB.. true Fr Andrew Pierce (AP) ;)
looks like the next great UD RB.
I agree, but I will play Devils advocate for a moment. UD had a long winning streak before West Chester broke through in 1983. Then there was about a 10 year period where the game was very competitive.

Unfortunately the game has not been competitive lately and has always been a 'no win situation' game for the Hens.

Silly penalties and too many fumbles, but this team could be special. And it was a better test than the score may signal; WCU is going to win some football games this year. Their QB, #17 will take them places.

1) Pierce makes people miss, slides off tackles and that burst of speed he showed on the 20-something yd touchdown was impressive. Devlins numbers will be down this year because this kid deserves the ball. Delvin may have his Cuff.

2) Kickoffs to the goal line are a welcome sight; coverage needs big improvement however. And a 40-something yd field goal against a light breeze too. Kicking game improved, coverage needs work.

3) The sophomore receivers #5 and #19 look like real keepers.

4) D-line filled their graduations losses nicely. Both lines need bigger opposition to get a true test, but any issues last night look fixable.

There is much to do before a very good SDSU team gets here, but this team has improved. Lets see if they can smooth off the ruff edges with the extra 2 days of prep.

Muir does need to buy out the 2012 WCU game. This series time passed long ago.

Agreed. If anything, I think Baner angled them a little too high, to the detriment of the extra five yards to get them to the goal line. Our kickoffs were a significant improvement over last year.

KO game that was not that impressive. Kicker kicks one out of bounds at the 20, hang time on all kickoffs were not good. PAT and FGs went quite well though It is hard to say that this was am improvemnt in the kicking game. Our Kicker the last couple of years will be a hard act to follow.
Can't agree (except the OofB kick) udeeeee. WCU return guy ran thru KO coverage between 15-20 yrd lines the 1st two returns. If the coverage was there the hang time was good enough. They need to tackle.Nice to see kicks to the goaline instead to the 20-25 like last year. Striefsky was dependable, but was hardly a great kickoff guy.
