Have they played a solid passing offense outside of SFA an TTU?JohnStOnge wrote:You know I think I was right in thinking Sam Houston State is weak at defensive back when I watched them. Can't figure out how they did so well in the passing efficiency defense statistics. Maybe it's because they get good pressure on the passer or something.

Well that sucked. A lot of stuff happened in that game but one thing I think Southern Utah did was get conservative on offense in the second half when they had the lead.

Yeah as they say there are calls and no calls all game long but THAT one was really bad because that was a REALLY obvious pass interference infraction. And it came at a really important point in the game. But that's part of the "random chance" part of football. The officials didn't mean to miss that. I think the guy nearest the play was just blocked off so he couldn't see the grab and I guess none of the other guys saw it either.kalm wrote:Holy **** that was a terrible no call for PI.
Oh well, McNeese has to try to beat the same good team twice now and also I would much rather have seen McNeese play somebody from another conference because it's just more interesting. The only silver lining I can think of is that McNeese has not played anybody with the passing attack Southern Utah had this year so I don't know if they'd have been able to handle it.
Sam Houston State's depth at running back is very impressive. That was huge in that game. They lost their 1 and 2 running backs and were still able to run the ball all over Southern Utah. They had their #3 and #4 running backs both go over 100 yards and finished with 344 yards on the ground. Even though they didn't score a lot they kept Southern Utah's offense off the field and when they did get it they were in bad field position most of the second half.
