You guys don't get that everyone outside of the hills of VA laughs at the streamers and thinks that they're gay. Inside at a basketball game, that can be OK. Doesn't translate to outside for college football.
Oh and they serve beer inside the Tub now too....

The holiest of holy piss walls is to be found in the NW corner, home side. As a staunch Republican, you will be pleased to know that Chris Christie regularly pisses on the same fine marble, and that the late Bill Roth, of Roth IRA fame, also was fond of wetting the wall.BDKJMU wrote:Hey UD, do you still have the piss walls in the bathrooms?

If you want more time and no hassles, park in the Well's Fargo lot across the street from the stadium.BDKJMU wrote:Well, that sucks. Usually for a full tailgate I want to be parked a minimum of 4 1/2 hrs before the game.bluehenbillk wrote:
Yes it's true the lots won't open till 3. If you want to start an "early tailgate" you'd have to hit a bar on Main St, which would open maybe at 11.
1/2 hr for set up:
-portable L shaped bar with umbrella & 4 bar folding bar stools.
-32 inch LED TV using deep cycle marine battery, power inverter, over the air digital antenna with booster.
-20 foot telescoping flag pole
-Whichever of my 3 grills I bring
-folding table
-3 hrs for tailgate
-1/2 hr for cleaning and packing everything up
-1/2 hr (give or take depending how close am parked) for a last drink, getting to stadium, bathroom on way, getting to seats.
That = 4 1/2 hrs. My avg tailgate for a night game with decent weather is getting to lot around 6 hrs before game. I know tailgating isn't as big in the northeast, but opening lots only 4 hrs before kickoff is small time lame..

Get there early for a spot. There is a liquor store you can walk to if you forget something.

Wells Fargo is indeed a good lot that fills up early. With BDK stating his penchant for early arrival, that's a great choice.

I don't think I've ever seen a visiting fan park in the Wells Fargo lot. That may not go over with some people over there....
I can verify the Chris Christie piss wall, I had a conversation with him while waiting in line to get in at halftime of a playoff game.

How big is the lot?
How much do they charge?
How early do you think it would fill for a 7 PM game?
What kind of crowd normally parks there (students/younger alums or older)?
BHB pretty much answered my other ?, which is do any away fans ever park there.

I think he holds it and pees at home rather than the stadium. But truth be told, he only showed up in election years or when a big game was happening. Christie's there every game, Biden's a fair weather Blue Hen fan.BDKJMU wrote:Did Biden piss there?93henfan wrote:

That answered one of my questions. I've parked around opposing fans before at away games, never with an issue. Mindful that I'm in someone else's territory. Usually friendly banter. I can take a little razing. Nobody's ever started any sh*t with me/us before. When you're my size that usually never happens anyway. Before heading into game I always make sure to pack & lock up all my stuff, take JMU magnets off truck, flag pole down so its not easily identified as a JMU vehicle just in case some student/drunk comes along and wants to f**k with it.bluehenbillk wrote:I don't think I've ever seen a visiting fan park in the Wells Fargo lot. That said, I would prefer not to be the only JMU fans in the bank lot. I'll keep the WF lot in mind as an early possibility, but will more likely be parking where it seems most the JMU fans are going to be parking going by the JMU board- the weather permitting large single game lot near the baseball field. If so, will shoot for being in line at 2:30-2:45 waiting for the gates to open..

Don't worry about the Hen fans in the WF lot...they are all veterans of Hendom. You might get to meet some of the more famous posters from GoHens.BDKJMU wrote: That answered one of my questions. The JMU Duke Club was going to do a Duke Club tailgate for $20 a head, same as they do at a lot of away games within 4 hrs of JMU. Got this off of the JMU board:
"....there was not enough interest in a Duke Club pregame eating event and that it was cancelled. There is another option:
The JMU pre-game gathering will be located at Matilda's Pub and Barbie, located at 801 S College Avenue, Newark, DE 19713. The venue is 0.4 miles from the stadium and parking is available on site. Due to the closeness to the stadium, the pub will have parking attendants. Our JMU guests will just need to tell the parking attendant that they are with the JMU group at Matilda's and they will be let into the parking lot at no charge. Once inside, we have an area reserved for JMU Fans. We have scheduled the gathering from 4:30pm - 6:30pm with the restaurant. There is no charge, but JMU fans are responsible for paying for their own food/beverages. Let us know if you have any questions......"
Only way we'll do that would be up to 2:30. I plan on being parked at 3:00.

Re: JMU (3-1) @ UD (3-1) Game Thread: CAA game of the week
For some reason I've never really seen a large contingent of JMU fans at the Tub through the years. Not sure why that is, as plenty of kids from this neck of the woods find their way down to school in VA. Even little Richmond has had bigger crowds in the Tub than JMU has. I think the biggest crowd I saw was a 5 streamer crowd, not much more than that.BDKJMU wrote:The JMU Duke Club was going to do a Duke Club tailgate for $20 a head, same as they do at a lot of away games within 4 hrs of JMU. Don't know if this was mentioned but halftime should be special as they have the 10 Year reunion of the 2003 National Championship team. A lot of GoHens speculation on whether KC Keeler will be there, but other than Mike Adams not being available I'd imagine most of the team will be there.
