Interesting. I could be wrong, but I thought the 4 qtrfinal games televised on ESPN each the last 2 seasons (2 per season) were all on ESPN2 (I could be wrong).
Are either of the semis on ESPN?
This year the semifinals are Friday night ESPN2, Saturday ESPNU. This year has the same TV coverage as 2010.

In honor of playing GSU this weekend, I'm going to wear overalls.

Re: Georgia Southern @ Old Dominion
As a public service announcement for the 2010 semis, I provided the shoe policy at Delaware Stadium for traveling Georgia Southern fans.CAA Flagship wrote:In honor of playing GSU this weekend, I'm going to wear overalls.![]()
To continue this valuable public service...
Foreman Field Shoe Policy
1. No shoes required in tailgate lots.
2. Shoes required in stadium.
3. Shoe rental not offered. Suggest you purchase your own (there are several discount shoe stores in Norfolk) or borrow some before beginning your trip from Georgia. There are no shoe vendors on the stadium and/or parking lot grounds.
Additionally, Foreman Field does not have spittoons. For sanitary purposes, it is requested that you bring your own. Fans are asked to dispose of large plugs of tobacco in a trash receptacle rather than in urinals or toilets.

Any picture of a Georgia Southern fan's vehicle would more likely have a cotton field, mud slough, or if it was their front yard, a full set (or sets) of appliances in the background. For full disclosure, the same could be said of Slower, DE, minus the cotton field and add a chicken house.

Re: Georgia Southern @ Old Dominion
Unlike the game in Fargo, 21 points is unlikely to be enough to win here. Outside of an apparent aberration in Villanova, nobody has been able to stop Old Dominion's offense all season. They haven't shown any ability to stop option teams, however. This all means this game will likely be a shootout (I know I'm going out on a limb here
). Old Dominion should get it done for 3 reasons: they're better in the redzone, they have better place kicking (GSU is terrible there), and the Eagles are the only team left in the field with a negative turnover margin.
Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

Unfortunately, one of the lasting memories of my visit to Paulson was the 0-3 FG effort by GSU in a three point loss to App State. Their kicking game cost them a #2 seed and home field in this game. Let's hope it doesn't cost them a game in the playoffs.Mvemjsunpx wrote:better place kicking (GSU is terrible there)

That, plus missing a 31 yd. chip shot against the Citadel cost us the #1 overall seed, too.93henfan wrote:Unfortunately, one of the lasting memories of my visit to Paulson was the 0-3 FG effort by GSU in a three point loss to App State. Agree on everything except QB is a push. Different systems, but both the absolute best at their system. GSU's lb's are better. And if GSU has better kickoffs, ODU must pooch kick every time.

Re: Georgia Southern @ Old Dominion
I agree to some extent on this & it is really hard to compare since the passing QB will obviously have better total offense stats (though I will say that Heinicke has about 2.5 times more total offense than McKinnon), but I do think Heinicke is better. The main thing is that Heinicke is not just a pocket passer—he also runs for 35 ypg & has 10 TDs. He's a threat in more ways than McKinnon is.eagleskins wrote:Agree on everything except QB is a push. Don't agree here. Each of ODU's starting LBs has double-digit tackles for loss. No-one on GSU's team has double-digit tackles for loss & their linebackers barely get into double-digits collectively. Stevenson has pretty good stats but there's a big drop off after him.GSU's lb's are better.
ODU's kickoff distance is a couple yards higher, but their kick coverage is questionable at best. And if GSU has better kickoffs, ODU must pooch kick every time.

You have to figure both teams are rooting hard for Wofford tomorrow.
NDSU is a bad match-up for both GSU & ODU.

Inside in a dome would be the ideal conditions for the spread offense. I might prefer going on the road vs facing another triple option team.bluehenbillk wrote:You have to figure both teams are rooting hard for Wofford tomorrow.

No doubt NDSU is tough. But I believe their weakness is defending the pass. Could be interesting.bluehenbillk wrote:Yea, but NDSU is the best defense in the country by a wide margin.ODU89 wrote:
