That is all a rediculous lie. What darell is spouting is the excuse why they quit, but it doesnt eplain why they quit in all sports. There were no playoff implications in sports other than football. The reason UND quit is because they were fighting sioux mad that NDSU was going to upset their apple cart. They thought they had it made as a D2, competing in most sports on the cheap, and playing hockey out of class with D1 schools. So, they decided to punish NDSU!Darell1976 wrote:UND coaches wanted to play NDSU on an even field. I guess even to NDSU means more scholarships for NDSU vs DII scholarships for UND. NDSU offered UND an initial 4 year home and home contract, but UND was afraid it would hurt their playoff chances, so UND rejected the offer.

Actually it makes lots of sense. Whats the point of playing a DI school every year when you are DII? It would be like NDSU playing Kansas in basketball every year or even twice a year. Chances are you are not going to win. So why not play when the field or court is more level...like now. UND is ending its transition so all the DII guys have filtered out and it can be game on again...unless NDSU runs scared of UND and goes to the FBS.JBB wrote:That is all a rediculous lie. UND had an opportunity to join NDSU and SDSU, but Roger Thomas etal, decided NDSU and SDSU would fail in the move to Division I and were afraid to take the next step themselves.Darell1976 wrote:Actually it makes lots of sense. The statement that UND fans love to make about playing anybody anywhere anytime is also a lie. They quit playing NDSU and SDSU!
Ps. the absurd amount of pride UND takes in the moral victories against FBS teams flies in the face of their adversion to playing a D1 NDSU.

UND quit..fine you think so but what about now when UND wanted to play NDSU every year and GT said no because they want 6 home games every year. Well if the series was still going NDSU would have stopped that rivalry when they joined the MVFC so they can have their 6 home games, and if you don't believe that you are drinking too much green and yellow kool-aid.JBB wrote:Darell1976 wrote:

Your excuses for the sorry-assed football team you have up there are never ending. UND played 3 schools this year where the UND scholarship advantage was bigger than the advantage NDSU might have had, but yet UND brags about those wins as if they were meaningful.

UND wants to play every year? HA! Then get in our conference or play in Fargo. NDSU is not going to leave 7,000 empty every other year so UND can have a game. UND seats 12,000, NDSU 19,000. There is no home/home or every year unless UND is going to pay for the 7,000 seats NDSU has to leave empty.
Maybe UND should just pay what it takes to get NDSU on the road.
In the meantime stop making up situations that didnt happen. It doesnt matter what NDSU may have done. UND quit. They were mad because their D2/Hockey out of class deal was ruined so they tried to hurt NDSU thinking that NDSU would have a much tougher time of it if UND didnt play. Well, what a surprise UND got!
NDSU is on top of the world and UND has nothing!

I didnt acknowledge it darell. If UND had moved with the BISON and SDSU we would all be in the same conference and a game wouldnt have been missed. Just deal with the facts.
UND quit the series and now you have to invent situations and twist logic to try and justify a position that is not sound. NDSU is not going to take a financial loss to let UND have a game with the Marquee College football team in the Dakotas.
You have some idiot on your suesports board that always says "follow the benjimans." Take his advice and compute the payment UND has to make when NDSU travels to grand forks to cover the empty 7,000 seats, My guess is about $100,000.
UND plays in Fargo, NDSU travels to Grand Forks the following year for $100,000 and the back side of the home/home. Its that simple, or if they prefer just pay NDSU Wyoming type money and Im sure they will go to Grand Forks.
You see, UND has to make up the lost revenue to ask NDSU to give up one of its OOC BCS/FCS Big 10/12 games. Of course UND could always accept the kind of money NDSU pays to regional bus teams and simply sign a single game contract to play on the Big Stage in Fargo at the insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome.

Re: Insanely Popular Fabulous Fargo Dome Sold Out!
No they wouldn't or else UND would have been in the MVFC in 2008 and USD would have been on the outside when both teams moved in 2008. NDSU wouldn't have gotten into the MVFC if SDSU didn't tell them they were a packaged deal. Remember that NDSU tried to get into a conference on their own (Big Sky) and twice was shot down. UND had ZERO chance at the MVFC (2010) and thats just a fact. If all 4 teams moved at once you think UND had any shot...or NDSU at that matter? No they would have taken SDSU, and USD. So indeed NDSU would have stopped the rival because I don't see them doing home and home's for infinity years.JBB wrote:I didnt acknowledge it darell. You and your hypotheticals dont change things one bit. UND quit. Thats what happened and now they dont have a game in Fargo. But you might be right about getting into a conference with NDSU? the BSC is the only conference dumb enough to take UND. The MVFC turned their nose up at them.
If UND ever wants to play on the big stage again they are going to have to take standard money for a regional bus team to come to the insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome, or they are going to have to do a home/home with a nice big kicker to NDSU or they are simply going to have to pay the price to buy NDSU off one of their OOC BSC/FBS Big10/12 games. Thats it darell.
You and your hypotheticals dont change anything UND quit and now they dont get to play one of the nations top football venues: The Insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome!

The NDSU Fabulous Fargo Dome is now the center of the FCS football playoff world. It is the biggest game of the year so far. The venue, a top 50 football stadium by anybodies measure is serving the School, the City, the State and the FCS very well.
It is the most popular venue in the history of North Dakota and hosts the largest crowds ever to see a sporting event in the history of the state.

The phones are starting to ring. A group is now moving from the Town Hall Bar in West Fargo to the tailgate lot on the west side of the insanely popular Fabulous Fargo Dome. These folk represent West Fargo Football and are BISON all the way. Some of their boys have worn the "Green and Gold" They are in the first row by the trees off the north end. Also, stop in and say hi to the Master-Gaters. They are off the north end too by pole f. All of these folks represent the heart and soul of NDSU BISON Football.
This is Game Day, the Big Game atmosphere has been pumping up this town since the big bird chugged in from Georgia.
The entire FCS football world is focused on this game. The Fabulous Fargo Dome stands ready at the center of the FCS world. Through-out the night the legendary venue has been bathed with the glow of the million candle lamps used to illuminate the facilities jaw-dropping exterior. Now its bathed in the warm sunshine of this late fall day. Its 19 degrees in Fargo and the tailgate is roaring!
Hod it,....call coming in.....Im told the lights are now on at Dacotah Field! Many BISON fans are paying homage at the sacred ground. A roar comes up as the throng starts to chant "Here We Go BISON Here We Go!" The traditions are stirring. The energy is rising. The game plan has been set.
Coaches are now with the players. Its a very fit, very talented bunch that is focused on one thing: polishing the game plan to perfection.
Each player is keenly aware of how important they are to the Herd. They are BISON and the strength of the Herd is The BISON, the Strength of The BISON The Herd!
GO BISON!!

Sunny anbd 30 in Fargo. We are getting some calls and the tailgate is nearing controlled chaos with all the energy being directed at the Fabulous Fargo Dome and the win. The Big Game atmoshper is unbelievabe. There is a certain amount of nervousness mixed in with the anticipation and the crowd is really getting primed. Im told the GSU fans are wonderful and fitting right in!
Coming up on 30 minutes to kickoff and the crowd is starting to move into the Fabulous Fargo Dome for the biggest game to date!
GO BISON!!!

GO BISON!!!
Now this is the law of the prairie
As old and as true as the sky
And the Bison that keep it will prosper
And the Bison that break it will die
As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk
This law is the final word:
For the strength of the Herd is the Bison
And the strength of the Bison the Herd.
