From reading the CAA Zone posts on JMU's board it seems like sticker shock is moving a lot of their fans to the cheap seats. Not alot of difference economic wise from the hills of Western Virginia to actual West Virginia minus the increased couch sales in WV.

Mountaineer fans will pay the big bucks to follow their team & since they'll be making fewer trips this year - DC looks more attractive than Big XII country, both in distance & # of tickets available. Bad year to play WVU - they're a top 10-top 15 team.

Ticket includes parking, which Dan Napoleon Snyder normally charges $30-$40 for I think. Apparently these are the same prices that were charged for VT-Boise 2 years ago.

The question for JMU fans is do you wait till Aug to try to get for cheaper off of stubhub?

I haven't heard of any plans to subsidize student tickets, so that is going to hurt student attendance. Hopefully JMU will provide some student buses for nominal or no charge.

He'll likely be replaced by former JMU safety Tony Lezotte, the only 4 time All American in CAA history, who's a yr younger than the coach that left, and was a defensive assistant this past season.

Price coached a lot of talent on the DL at JMU in 8 seasons. So this sucks for JMU. Hope JMU gets someone good to replace him..

Last summer when some people said JMU 25-30k I called that delusional. Now I probably shouldn't have said that, but I would still call 25-30k too optimistic, esp given the high prices for the tickets."

HARRISONBURG — The James Madison football team’s Sept. 15 matchup against West Virginia at FedEx Field isn’t a typical road game.

Just ask the man in charge of the Dukes’ ticketing.

“It’s extremely different,” said Mike Carpenter, JMU’s ticketing director. “There’s a lot of options at FedEx Field. We’ll be seeing different price options, and that’s going to be a little bit of a challenge for our fans. When we went to Virginia Tech, it was one $48 ticket.”..................

............Carpenter said JMU was hoping for 20,000 to 30,000 fans, and that there is no hard allotment number. He said JMU and West Virginia had access to an equal number of tickets (about 41,000 each), and which school gets more will be dictated by sales. Carpenter called it a “liquid” situation............"

WVU's ranking will also have a lot to do with it. Right now there is a decent buzz for 2012 for WVU. They'll be a preseason number 10 team and have a coach with a proven track record.

If WVU loses by that point, expect big dropoffs.

They only play Marshall before JMU. You think they could lose to the Thundering Terds?

WVU is going to be coming off a bye week with one of the top offenses in all of college football. JMU will have a good defense again, likely a top 10 I-AA defense. But WVU, who probably won't bring their A game, is still likely to score in the 40s-50s. After seeing WVU put up 70 against Clempson in the Orange Bowl, and seeing that they're slated to return 8 starters on both sides of the ball, including a dark horse Heisman candidate, I harbor no illusions. And that was Holgorsen's 1st season, and they have a majority of their starters back.

JMU, 8 starters back on offense (even after having a starting OL quit school) will have their best offense since 08', and will likely score in the teens vs WVU, maybe 21. JMU will likely lose by anywhere from 3-6 TDs.

Won't relly know how good JMU will be till Oct 6 when JMU will be 3-1:
9/1 St Francis: Blowout win
9/8 Alcorn State: Blowout win
9/15: WVU @ Fed Ex: Blowout loss
9/22: @ URI: Easy win
9/29: Bye
10/6: Towson.
