Good point. Last year was definitely more the line than it was a lack of competent backs. This year, after losing Sullivan, JMU has a lot of potential and depth but not much experience. I expect one or two of the young guys to step up and carry or split the load.
4 non true freshman RBs on roster for next season, yep, not a lot of experience:
-Jordan Anderson, will be a rSo, 16 carries, 78 yards last season
-Lee Reynolds, will be a rJr, 7 carries, 27 yards career
-Dejor Simmons will be a rFr (gotten A LOT of hype, hope he's the next Noel Devine)
-Hykeem Brodie (walk on Penn State transfer, film from 10' PSU Spring game looked very impressive)

Excited to see what Simmons can do. Heard he looked very impressive in the spring. 3 star from a AAA HS in the "vaunted 757", big #s as a HS junior in 08', 600+ yards 1st 4 games as HS senior 09' before season ending injury. Some of the BCS schools backed off him after the injury, but still had offers from WVU, UConn, Duke, Toledo, Marshall

Fastest player JMU has ever signed out of HS. Post from a track coach FormerJMUSprinter84 over on the Zone from back Jan 10':
"I'll take this kid any day, even if he just returns kicks. Speed is speed.

In the 2008 National AAU meet as an Intermediate Age Group (15-16) runner, Simmons went through 3 rounds of the 100m and 3 rounds of the 200 to win AAU Nationals in both. He had the fastest time in each event in EVERY round of the competition. You have to be strong as he** to do that. He knows how to win.

100m - 10.86, 10.70, 10.54 (all had legal wind readings) A 10.54 by a 16 year old is phenomenal
200m - 21.68, 21.67, 21.55

Simmons has run alot of very fast times in his career. I think his size and the ankle injury his Sr. year caused some teams to shy away from him, but he will fit in fine at JMU."

Also 08' was the 5th fastest HS Junior in the nation in the Spring in the 100 meters.

Rivals had him as the 16th ranked "All purpose" RB in the country:

WVU was recruiting him to replace Noel Devine. Almost identical height, size & speed coming out of HS
