EW6 has confirmed the epic tilt is now set for Saturday, December the 11th at 12:30 Pacific Standard Time. Home playoff favorites are undefeated this decade in games played exactly 10 days prior to the winter solstice.

Also this: Convocation inside sources at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are anticipating overcast skies with game time temperatures in the mid 30's, and a 80% chance of drunk.

Hey Kalm! youre better at this than I am!

Here is some straight talk:

EARLY LOOK/EARLY PREDICITON:

*********FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*******

NDSU BISON TO WIN

*********/RELEASE***********
(follow with story, cut and edit as necessary)

Looking at the Eagles I see Montana State. Not as good in a lot of statistical respects, better in a few others. Never-the-less an undeniably solid team.

The most outstanding offensive player is probably Jr running back Taiwan Jones. He is a 140 yd/game running back. Their QB Bo Mitchill is no Denarius McGhee but he is close. Both can pass but Mitchell has been less of a threat rushing with only 46 yds total on the season.

The Eagles are a solid football team. Brandon Kaufman is the leading reciever and the main target with 59 receptions.

The Eagles have been solid but never dominating. They lost to Nevada. More of a threat rushing than MSU because of Taiwan and you have to neutralize Mitchell a little. They will show some offense.

They score a lot too. The Eagles put up 31 pts/game but give up 24.

By all accounts the teams match up well. The scoring differential for this game is clearly in favor of The BISON. Its at 9 points for this game and the ratios show the BISON are in about the same position with the Eagles as they were with the Cats: 2:1 for the BISON and 1:1 for the Eagles. This is an iron clad devestaing stat. It has held up all year. NDSU will score its points much easier than the Eagles.

Last week NDSU threw 5 passes. They didnt have to throw. They had 385 yds rushing. Why would the BISON pass?

I see a BISON victory. NDSU only gave up 16 TDs all season in the MVFC and 20 for all games. Keep looking at that. Its the biggest game changer you will see all season besides sacks for and against. Both are in favor of the BISON.

DEFENSE IS THE KEY!!!

One of the big changes for the BISON is the return of disciplined play. NDSU has paid a high price for unfortunate penalties they didn't need to take. Several games were lost last year with those types of undisciplined play. We arent seeing that anymore. Very few personal fouls or roughing penalties. This is a factor in the success of the team.

In the 4th quarter of our last three games we've given up 26, 27, and 29 yards of total offense. And two of those were against the #4 rushing offense (SEMO) and the #5 passing and #9 total offense (SUU) in the country. Over those same three games, we've only allowed 10 total points in the 2nd half including a pair of shut outs.

Unlike MSU who at least twice this year gave up a ton of yardage and points in the second half, we seem to make the adjustments and get better as the game wears on. Just like with me taking you out of your gameplan on this thread JBB, I think EWU has the defensive personnel and potential to slow your run game down enough to force you to throw.

Got back from Washington today....here is my opinion on what the outcome could be.

NDSU. You are going to have to balance up your rushing attack. EWU has very good depth on the DL and two outstanding defensive tackles. They will be able to stop the rushes up the middle and do a good job and pursuing the play down the line. You are going to have to get someone on #4!!!! He isn't the biggest MLB but he has great vision and instincts for the game. If you run power allot in your running game then you are better running at him, because he does a great job of either shooting the gap or flowing over top of the play. Their overall Defensive speed is better than film has shown. Their OL is very good at pass pro. They aren’t the best run blockers but don't have to be when you have a back with the speed and ability to make a dead play into a positive or a big gain like he did numerous times against us.

EWU. This is a typical old school Gateway team. Run it down your throat. Run it down your throat. Go up top every once in a while. Don't fall asleep in the secondary. Keep playing the fundamental hardnosed football that you played this weekend against us. Offensively you will have to mix it up more. A draw every few plays won't work against this DL. Your counter draw should work. Overall keep focused and do what you are doing. Had a great time this past weekend and wish you good luck this upcoming week. We will be rooting for you here in Missouri. I look for a EWU win by 10 plus.

NDSU is stronger than the Warshington Eagles. I watched the SEMO game and saw a solid team that simply is not as strong. There was a lot of talk about how physical NDSU was in the MSU thread. That will pick up here. If the Eagles are as good as that one guy says they are in the 4th qtr they can probably prevent the final couple TDs and get out of the game on the short end of the 28-17 instead of the 42-17.

Our forward command has been on this for several weeks.

1) Scoring differential in favor of NDSU BISON. This is an iron clad stat.

2) Outdoor stadium favors the BISON. We like to play in the old fashioned venues. (loss of home field advantage is a given. NDSU won at Lawrence Kansas, thats different than winning in Bozeman, which is something Warshington couldnt do. They lost to an FBS squad as well)

3) Coaching favors the BISON (this is often referred to as an intangible kalm) NDSU has an FBS coach at the helm.

4) The Warshington defense is eerily similar to the Cats. Good in the BSC.

I pick NDSU by 4 pts. Over/under 47.

With more season tickets sold than EWU has averaged in attendance there will be no home field advantage. A small crowd of 7 -8,000 is expected. What is the capacity of the radiator?

By the looks of things The NDSU BISON Defense will be the best, strongest and fastest the Eagles have faced, including the big FBS game they had earlier in the season. That must have been a thrill for such a small school with such average attendance to go play in a big stadium and stuff.

Game time is 2.30 in Fargo, sorry about the confusion. Fortunately its only Monday and there is time to adjust your travel plans for the game.

Wow, you have such a massive school. We're not worthy.

We've played Cal, Texas Tech, Colorado, West Virginia, Oregon State etc. all within the past few years. We play Washington next year. I'm sure it's always fun for the team to play in those kind of games, but it's nothing new. Nice try though.

What I find interesting in all of this is the Stat's comparison's people like to make. Problem with that theory is you are taking stats from different conferences. EWU and MSU face one other team in the conference that I'd see as at par with them and thats obviously the griz. Conference camparison MVFC to BSC is interesting. People like to say that the Valley was down this year and it was to a degree but to me that just speaks to the quality of the conference. I think top to bottom the Valley is a tougher conference to play in week in and week out than the BSC. I still like the BSC and wish them well when they are playing except for when they play a MVFC team. But in the end I don't know that I'd hang my hat on stats. You know what they say figures lie and liars figure. I know I"m looking forward tot he game on Saturday.

No real secret on how NDSU plays. Their offensive line is HUGE and just wears out a smaller D-Line. I don’t think EWU D-Line is all that much bigger than MSU’s. Their RB #8 hits the line hard and fast, but also showed some great patience early in the game allowing the O-Line to open things up. Then they put in their scat back who is pretty fast and can hit the outside. They play very solid defense and tackle extremely well. I haven’t seen a defense that can tackle that well all year out of anybody. What surprised me was their speed in the secondary. To beat NDSU right now, EWU will need to jump out on top of them early and force them to throw take them completely of their running game. If it is close (within a TD) at the half, I like the Bison chances in the second half. That O-Line will flat out beat you down.

After the game, Coach Ash stated that we have to get bigger on the O-Line and D-Line so I assume that is what we are going to focus on in recruiting this year. Best of luck to both teams the rest of the way. Get ready Chenny, NDSU travels really well and have a great bunch of fans. At least all the ones I met before and after the game were great. They are kind of crazy, but in a good way! Looking forward to 2013 (I think that is when we come to Fargo) going to have to make that trip.
