I don't think we were #1 on too many polls last year and we ended up in the 2 slot when all was said and done so they couldn't have been over ranked by too many people by more than ONE spot.

Besides all that everybody else has said...you realize your argument wasn't about preseason polls, but a poll after the first week, which was presumably based on results, which did happen (CAA teams beat or perfomed well against FBS teams). I'm not sure if that poll looks any different without a preseason poll. Teams that perform well against tougher competition are going to be at the top of any poll.

I didn't vote in this because it doesn't matter to me either way. If we don't do a preseason poll, then we should wait AT LEAST four weeks out to do one, maybe more to let conference play kick in.

I only have time to vote in one poll and this will be the one I vote in this year, so let me know when I can sign up.

I'm sure there will be a moment. I can't imagine there wouldn't be. Especially with all the of things that National Guard does during the games.


As for why...not sure. UNI has 2 bye weeks to start the season, then plays 11 straight games, and if they make playoffs and the semi's and don't get a first round bye. That would be, what 15 straight game weeks?

That is why there has been talk of dropping our game with SFA. Get the bye week there, and pick up a week 1 or 2 game. There isn't a single team in the MVFC that is playing week 1

The only thing that would change the playoff scenario is if they were one of the 12 playoff teams that got a first round bye. Still, it sucks. We had to do that last year (bye in Week 1).

I know the assertion and every time I use the term pillow biter you can take it as my assertion to the integrity of your user name. It is not directed AT you. It is just way too much fun to type to let it go by the wayside.

heres the way i see it. if we had a preseason poll, theres 44 people who said yes they'll partake in it. now im thinkin at least 1/3 of the people that said no would do it just because we do end up having one. that 12 more people voting brings it to 56 people that partake in it. right now theres 80 votes it could change again later on. people can even change there vote now. im curious wut action, if any, will be taken seeing that we see the numbers on who would and wouldnt partake. any thougts/answers?

I think that's an awfully low amount of votes for this and I don't see why it was even brought up in the first place. To appease new members? We did just fine without one before. Oh, I know, change is good. But you asked.

I wouldn't call 55% a ringing endorsement especially when it is only 4 votes going the other way that it make it a dead even vote. As I said in the beginning of this I knew it was gonna be about 50/50 on this thing because we literally went over the pluses and minuses with a fine tooth comb when we were setting this up. It is a lot of work and there is no way that all 44 that voted yes are gonna put the work that it takes to do a weekly vote in a proper fashion. It is EASY for them to vote on this because it is a single click and they are in. To make 25 clicks trying to read up on the conferences and the individual teams to do a proper and respectable preseason poll takes a lot more effort.

I'm glad you did this because it give the actual #'s but I think if this something you really want to do then some of us could help you or there may be other options for doing this but we are trying to set ourselves apart from the normal beauty contest type polls and this goes against that.

If you wanted to do it then I'd be willing to help with ideas on how to do it and I would even make my preseason guesses on a poll.
