Re: Preseason Poll
Polls are like a$$-holes, everyone has the Griz at #1.
If it looks like a cow, smells like a cow, and moo's like a cow, it's a UC Davis coed.

Re: Preseason Poll
I don't think we were #1 on too many polls last year and we ended up in the 2 slot when all was said and done so they couldn't have been over ranked by too many people by more than ONE spot.Herky wrote:Polls are like a$$-holes, everyone has the Griz at #1.

Besides all that everybody else has said...you realize your argument wasn't about preseason polls, but a poll after the first week, which was presumably based on results, which did happen (CAA teams beat or perfomed well against FBS teams). I'm not sure if that poll looks any different without a preseason poll. Teams that perform well against tougher competition are going to be at the top of any poll.
I didn't vote in this because it doesn't matter to me either way. If we don't do a preseason poll, then we should wait AT LEAST four weeks out to do one, maybe more to let conference play kick in.
I only have time to vote in one poll and this will be the one I vote in this year, so let me know when I can sign up.

Yea, we've had to do that before too. I HATE having an early season conference game.
Re: Preseason Poll
I'm sure there will be a moment. I can't imagine there wouldn't be. Especially with all the of things that National Guard does during the games.kuntryboimike wrote:sept. 11.....any particular reason why or is that just how it happened...hmmm. hopefully theres a "moment of silence for 9/11" day should never be forgottenclenz wrote: UNI vs NDSU September 11. As for why...not sure. UNI has 2 bye weeks to start the season, then plays 11 straight games, and if they make playoffs and the semi's and don't get a first round bye. That would be, what 15 straight game weeks?
That is why there has been talk of dropping our game with SFA. Get the bye week there, and pick up a week 1 or 2 game. There isn't a single team in the MVFC that is playing week 1
Re: Preseason Poll
The only thing that would change the playoff scenario is if they were one of the 12 playoff teams that got a first round bye. Still, it sucks. We had to do that last year (bye in Week 1).clenz wrote:I'm sure there will be a moment. I can't imagine there wouldn't be. Kuntry, we are not a real pc lot around here for the most part because we realize that it is a massive inhibitor to humor.kuntryboimike wrote:negative. are u serios? wheres the respect? i really dont even no what else to say to that comment. thats gotta be the most arrogant, hateful, disrespectful, childish post ive ever seen on this site.JayBilasBitesPillows wrote:

To be honest if I ever had a woman try and even give me a second look over such a small amount I would tell her in no uncertain terms that she could take the fast track to going and fucking herself. That ain't no joke.

No offense Jay, I don't think you are. I just knew I wouldn't always your name right away....Pillow Biter, however, I will never have trouble with
Re: Preseason Poll
Ok, lets clear this up quickly.
My assertion is that Jay Bilas is, in fact, a pillowbiter, thus the name.
However, if it avoids any confusion, you can call me Smitty or ODUsmitty.
And like anyone that puts out their writings for the world to see....I elicited a strong response from our neutered Liberty friend, so I have done my job effectively

I know the assertion and every time I use the term pillow biter you can take it as my assertion to the integrity of your user name. It is not directed AT you. It is just way too much fun to type to let it go by the wayside.JayBilasBitesPillows wrote:Ok, lets clear this up quickly.

Smitty is good too though...
"Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened ..."

Close enough to Smitty for me.

Re: Preseason Poll
heres the way i see it. if we had a preseason poll, theres 44 people who said yes they'll partake in it. now im thinkin at least 1/3 of the people that said no would do it just because we do end up having one. that 12 more people voting brings it to 56 people that partake in it. right now theres 80 votes it could change again later on. people can even change there vote now. im curious wut action, if any, will be taken seeing that we see the numbers on who would and wouldnt partake. any thougts/answers?

Re: Preseason Poll
I think that's an awfully low amount of votes for this and I don't see why it was even brought up in the first place. To appease new members? We did just fine without one before. Oh, I know, change is good. But you asked.

Re: Preseason Poll
I wouldn't call 55% a ringing endorsement especially when it is only 4 votes going the other way that it make it a dead even vote. As I said in the beginning of this I knew it was gonna be about 50/50 on this thing because we literally went over the pluses and minuses with a fine tooth comb when we were setting this up. It is a lot of work and there is no way that all 44 that voted yes are gonna put the work that it takes to do a weekly vote in a proper fashion. It is EASY for them to vote on this because it is a single click and they are in. To make 25 clicks trying to read up on the conferences and the individual teams to do a proper and respectable preseason poll takes a lot more effort.kuntryboimike wrote:heres the way i see it. if we had a preseason poll, theres 44 people who said yes they'll partake in it. now im thinkin at least 1/3 of the people that said no would do it just because we do end up having one. that 12 more people voting brings it to 56 people that partake in it. right now theres 80 votes it could change again later on. people can even change there vote now. im curious wut action, if any, will be taken seeing that we see the numbers on who would and wouldnt partake. any thougts/answers?

I'm glad you did this because it give the actual #'s but I think if this something you really want to do then some of us could help you or there may be other options for doing this but we are trying to set ourselves apart from the normal beauty contest type polls and this goes against that.
If you wanted to do it then I'd be willing to help with ideas on how to do it and I would even make my preseason guesses on a poll.
