Getting better here as there are groups that embarass people on campus wearing other schools' gear and then they implemented "Bobcat Camp" for frosh and new students that has helped a great deal the past few years. The 'cheer' org "The Loud Crowd" even goes so far as to find people in the stands and make them change their tees right there. Still, we do have the whorns just up the road plus 9 other FBS and 7 other FCS schools to contend with 'in state'. That's not counting DII etc. We are getting better as the team is getting better. Used to have a pick of seats before 2005. Just that short time ago if 5000 came to a game it was radical. This year we upped our attendance average by 1500 over 2008 but that puts us in the 12k + range. We'll never get what the Grizz or App get but we're making progress, in spite of who we have to contend with.

Yeah. Nailed it. And how many people within 2 hours of State College PA? How many of those 95,000 are students?

Absolutely ludicrous comparison...but I'd expect nothing less from a Villanova grad.

Just a little fact: Richmond rolled up more points and more TOP on ASU than the Griz and UR's offense isn't nearly as productive as nova's.

The Griz, depsite themselves, and despite a HUGE home field advantage, escaped ASU...UR, despite themselves and not much of a home field advantage, didn't. :coffee:

nova is better than UR.

The Griz are in for a game next week. :thumb:

Indeed we are. I think both teams are pretty close talent-wise, but I'd give the edge to us because of momentum. Of course, that's what I thought going into last year's game, so who knows. :?

Was the UR/ASU game played in 30 mph winds and a driving snowstorm? Just like you shouldn't judge the Griz by how they performed today, we won't judge Nova by how pedestrian they looked last night against W&M. Because if we're going to aware victories based on total yards, it'd be W&M vs ASU in Chatanooga.

edit: and Nova beat UR by ONE point, AT Nova, a game in which UR outgained Nova, had more first downs, missed two field goals (including a 35 yard chip shot as time expired) and an extra point (which would have tied the game).

You STILL sure Nova's better than UR? Maybe better than UR's KICKER.... :coffee: :coffee:

I was there. The W&M student/fan turnout and spirit were heartwarming. Across the field, the Nova fans-with the exception of a small student section-showed all the excitement of a sitting jury. It was a VERY cold evening (although I am sure Griz fans could school me about that). As for next week, Whitney is going to need a better performance to get it done against UM; he certainly looked like the second best qb on the field last night.

Stats matter little unless they are put into perspective. Your QB went 11-27 against a porous defense w/o one of their best DEs. The Griz only scored 24 points against that same D.

No matter how you try to spin that, it wasn't impressive. Not at all.

Apparently you missed the field conditions of the UR/ASU game. Very bad footing...all game. Cost both teams a lot of yards.

I realize you're just trying to goad us giddy Griz fans into a fight, but judging any QB's stats in THAT wind/snow storm is ludicrous. Take all the meaning you want from that game. You'll be wrong. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

....one final thing: you're hammering an 11-27 performance....perhaps you should recall the glowing 7-20 abortion put on by Whitney Friday night.

Again....don't judge the Griz offense by what you saw today. Playing conditions will be MUCH better Friday night. :thumb: :thumb:

Your post still puts the Griz win into an unimpressive perspective. The Griz just barely beat an ASU team that barely beat UR...and Montana had a huge home field advantage that UR didn't have.

As most people agree, UR was the third best team in the CAA behind nova and W&M.

nova has a great chance to win the championship.

LOL... did a horse kick you in the head recently? Montana's offense > Nova's offense. Don't try to dispute this FACT because you will be humiliated and proved to be wrong. App/Montana > Nova/WM.

Since when is 7 more points ROLLED UP???? and incase you didn't notice, the Griz held APP to 18 less points than UR did.

In the red highlight--this makes no sense what-so-ever!! Montana got it done at home, Richmond got beat at home....large crowd or not. I thought the big bad CAA should have battle tested UR to handle ASU at home...
P.S -> UR doesn't get that strip for a TD gift AE may not have needed that game winning drive.

Agreed. College football in general is not big in the northeast, that is especially true in New England. People up here are Red Sox crazy with college basketball finishing a distant second. FCS football is not even on the radar. Sad but true, look at the last two FCS programs to get dropped and notice what region of the country they were from.

Both will travel poorly. I feel badly for Montana fans, because they would fill their side of a more accessible venue. If you had to pick a top ten list of unlikely continental US flight itineraries, Missoula MT to Chattanooga TN in December is probably right up there with Ypsilanti MI to Yuma AZ in August, and the flights are priced accordingly.

Villanova fans have no excuse.
