It's all been said already but that was a real thing of beauty yesterday. I am so happy that I got a chance to see this App. team play in person. They were everything I thought they were. A great game between two teams and coaching staffs that work on skill, integrity, aplomb, and an amount of heart that you rarely get to see. It was an absolute classic.
The fans were emotionally and physically exhausted so I can not impart enough the amount of guts it had to take to compete on that stage, in those conditions. Trying to pass, catch, kick, or anything else with that football is amazing. I had to feel like a bowling ball.
It was cold as hell and the setting was like you were in a movie...it was just unbelievably beautiful in the stadium with the snow coming down under the lights.
I talked to a couple of App fans before the game and we went back and forth talking about the usual football related things and the atmospheres at our particular stadiums. He was like all the other App fans around this joint...a hell of a nice guy that was just out to have some fun. Had a real looker of a girlfriend that he had met at the 2007 NC game. Me and Grizo were exiting the stadium and this fella (name of Tuttle in case any App's know him) was just walking along with a dejected look. I told him we had the opportunity to witness one of the best games of magnitude that will ever be played in that stadium and that I was very sorry that one of us had to lose. I feel real bad for my App friends, and those players that gave us all such a great show yesterday. Appalachian State deserves all the respect they ever get.
