Maybe the NCAA should only concentrate on something from 25 years ago in a completely different location and customer base and make the decisions based only on historical attendance.

Starting in 2010 there will be more than one week between the semi finals and the finals, correct? This would make an attractive "destination" type location more viable as people would have more time to plan and make arrangements.89Hen wrote:Equally crappy as Spokane or Orlando or San Antonio... but what are the chances of that match-up? Yes, you are missing the point. Montana has been in 4 of the last 10 championships. A team from the East has been in 10 of the last 10 championships including 4 that featured TWO Eastern teams. Believe it or not, there's more to the I-AA world than Montana.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:Montana has been in more or as many as any team on your list. Am I missing a point here?

As for the final comment... I'm sure Tacoma and Spokane are very different from each other, but they have one HUGE thing in common.... they are more than 1,000 miles from the epicenter of I-AA football. There's no changing that. If Montana, EWU, MSU or ISU don't make the NC game (chances are they won't) it will have attendance that was the same for the ones played in Tacoma 25 years ago. Have you seen the attendance in the Humanitarian Bowl when Boise doesn't play in it?

You can act like a fucking dick all you want with your snide comment about the epicenter of the football world Hen but the fact is that only two of the games in the past 10 years had two teams from the east in it. The others ALL had to fly there to play/view so what is it about you that makes you think that it all centers around what you want. You oughta work on that a little bit.89Hen wrote:Yes, you are missing the point. Montana has been in 4 of the last 10 championships. You don't understand some things and I will be here to help you so keep asking. I never said one thing about any team from the BSC conference being IN the game I am talking about the fact that unlike a lot of you on the the other coast the game would be heavily attended by our fans even if we weren't in it. That makes it vastly different than the Tacoma thing that you are trying to compare it to.

How was that snide? Somebody did a geographic study of I-AA football and the dead center is somewhere in southern Kentucky, not really that far from Chattanooga. That's a fact. The best chance to get at least one team in it that can drive is to have it somewhere that most of the teams reside.Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:You can act like a **** dick all you want with your snide comment about the epicenter of the football world Hen but the fact is that only two of the games in the past 10 years had two teams from the east in it. 10 of the last 10 NC games featured a team from the East.
4 of the last 10 NC games featured a team from the East (YSU/GSU, UD/Colgate, AppSt/UD, AppSt/UMass).
Any talk of you or MSU or EWU fans filling the stadium is just that... talk. GSU hosted the NC three times. Twice it featured GSU and sold out (25k and 23k). The year it didn't feature GSU it had 12k. I would expect if Montana or MSU or EWU were in it, it would sell out. If they're not, I would expect 8k.

Re: Spokane/EWU submits bid to host NC game
From what I have heard, large scale renovations are in store for Joe Albi......(new turf, expanded seating??)
Also, to reiterate what was posted above. Spokane does a great job of hosting events like this. Google Bloomsday, Hoop-fest, National Figure Skating Competition, etc...
I think it would be a great move by the NCAA.

Re: Spokane/EWU submits bid to host NC game
More possible to plan, yes. But I think the timing acutally hurts more than helps though. Being the week after the week most people take off is going to make it less appealing to travel IMO. Look at the first round games. They occur the weekend of Thanksgiving at home locations and are always the least attended of games for the hosts... that includes teams like Delaware, Montana, AppSt, GSU, YSU... places that support their teams pretty darn well.SunCoastBlueHen wrote:Starting in 2010 there will be more than one week between the semi finals and the finals, correct? You CAA fans are full of it. Maybe Poly, Davis & Southern Utah should join the Sky, then The Big Sky could split the conf & throw 4 teams (EWU, Weber, UM, & Cal Poly) in the playoffs every year... I guarantee one of them would make it to the NC game. CAA fans seem to think bc their conf mates have success in any given season, then they can collect some of the praise. GTFOH

The snide part is the "Believe it or not, there's more to the I-AA world than Montana." but you did have a couple of winks after it so my bad.89Hen wrote:How was that snide? You can assume as much as I can on te attendance but it would have a ton of Griz fans there and I can assure you of that. When we lost out early and EWU had a game there at Joe Albi the next week in the playoffs for the second round there was a couple thousand Griz fans there to cheer on EWU for a second round game. I was there and it was loaded with Griz fans. Your expectation of 8K is way off because I think there was over 10k for tthe week after thanksgiving.
I believe the center was Bowling Green KY if I remember right and I like Chattanooga as much as the next guy but the NCAA is exploring other options and I am telling you that dismissing Spokane from it base on 25 yr. old #'s from Tacoma is no way to look at it. As far as the feel of the place it is very similar to Chatty it's just not in your back yard.
How many time has a team (at least one of them) not had to fly to the game? I didn't go look.
