Re: AGS Poll - Week 5
This happens every year though. The West is so in need of more teams, that the Big Sky and Great West have to schedule teams like U Cal, Arizona etc and always start out with a loss. If it is a win, it is a Division II team, which some feel is about the level of many of the CAA's out of conference FCS teams.wideright82 wrote:putter wrote:
I don't think there is 25 spots of bias at all. I was just commenting on people saying that Montana should not be even considered for the top spot and my question is why. Some people voting look at teams, even Montana, out west as inferior due to perceived lack of competition..and I don't agree.
I will agree with that, but I don't think this year is one of those cases. I know we beat "the worst team in 1-A" and an "Overrated W&M" but rigth now I don't think Montana's case is strong enough for a 1 spot. I didn't see anyone on this or any other forum prior to this game giving NAU a shot in hell at anything, so don't think that is bias from us easterners. This week will be a big test. I think Montana wins it, but it will be a test none the less. They are a legit Top-5 team, just don't have the resume for #1, regardless of how you vote.
The West teams all start out with losses and the East teams get wins. It never changes.

And I say again, WHAT in Villanova's resume gives THEM a legitimate shot at #1?wideright82 wrote:putter wrote:

Re: AGS Poll - Week 5
Two major criticisms with this poll (of which I am a voter):
- 1. McNeese is way overranked. Yes, they beat App State in a shootout, but they also barely beat a DII and lost to a weak in-state FBS team.
2. Why is EKU above Jacksonville State? JSU looks to be by far the best team in the OVC.

Geez, I voted for 24 of those 25 teams in our poll and everyone is ragging on it. Maybe I should go back to voting over there.

Absolutely nothing, Z. I already told you you were right. I'm not going to convince you that beating Temple and William and Mary were of better quality than anything Montana has done this year, so it's a pointless argument.
