Last time I checked, North Dakota State whipped the 2006 MAC champions. They have some potential as a program, but it's not like I'm familiar with their athletic budget though.

It's a little too early to judge Florida International. They actually had a good season in 2008 by their standards and went 5-6 in 2005 (the year right before they went to hell recordwise). I agree with Tampajag, FAU has no intention of dropping down. They're fixated on overthrowing Troy as the conference power in the Sun Belt.
1. They JUST transitioned to FCS
2. They were middle of the pack in the MVFC last season.

OK I am actually offended by some of these comments. So what a lots of you are saying is that Sh@@@y FBS teams should go to FCS. Basically FCS sucks and deserves the FBS rejects cause it is a huge step down. BULL$H!T.

FBS teams that should move down.

Toledo or BGSU : Decent MAC programs that has up and down years and would benefit from competing for a National Championship. Only room for one of the two.

Western Michigan: Same as above

Baylor: Not a great football school but a solid private school from Texas that may benefit from competing for a NC.

Isn't BGSU thinking of dropping football?
Western Michigan has enjoyed more success than their directional partner Eastern Michigan.
Baylor is way out of the FCS realm. Granted they suck at football, but way out of FCS's league.

Exactly, Western Michigan has enjoyed some success in a conference that has a losing record against the MVFC over the last 15 years (even though the beat up InSU every year). They would be a GOOD addition to FCS. Eastern Michigan Sucks and would be a BAD addition.

BGSU despite being on the edge of keeping football has still been in the top half of the MAC a few times in the last 5 years and seeing how toledo and BGSU are like 15 minutes apart one would benefit from the step down.

Why is Baylor out of the FCS league. UNI has proven that bottom teams in the big 12 are no better than good MVFC teams over the last 15 years. Baylor is not out of the FCS league talent wise and would be a good addition to FCS They would never leave the Big Twelve but they would be a good FCS addition and it would probably help their program in the long run (depending on the revenue sharing the Big Twelve has).

I was just upset that people thought BAD teams should be placed in FCS. As if being relegated to the highest level of championship football in the NCAA was somehow t be a punishment for being $h!ttY

I like the way you think Turfdoc! We don't want the crappy FBS programs, we want the decent ones who would bring something to the table!

I'm aware of both of those facts. It doesn't mean they can't make another step up. FAU and FIU started football programs from scratch with the intention of moving to the FBS within 5 seasons or so. Same with South Alabama. NDSU though has had some success with their basketball program during their purgatory period. So there's potential, and that's just my point.

Richmond's the defending champs and definitely a program on the rise...... but, they averaged 7k fans last year... They would need a good bit more to move to FBS.
