I didn't say seven D-1 wins. I said seven WINS.GOKATS wrote:Seven DI wins is a guideline, not a rule, but realistically a team is not going to make the playoffs with less than seven DI wins. The Cats had seven wins last year but only six were DI because South Dakota was in transition and didn't count as a DI win. As far as the comment saying no BSC team will make the playoffs with only seven DI wins, bullsh!t (I realize that wasn't your comment BF). It has happened and not that long ago.BlackFalkin wrote:

If you can read, go back and follow the thread. My point was getting into the playoffs with seven DI wins which has nothing to do with season wins. Since you didn't bother to answer my question I won't bother to answer yours.BlackFalkin wrote:I said *season* not regular season, dont try to be slick, guy. btw ... whens the last time MSU beat EWU?GOKATS wrote: BTW, since you brought it up, when was the last time EWU won 8 DI regular season games...............

As far as I can tell neither EWU or MSU has ever had 8 regular season DI wins, so we can just look forward to this year for bragging rights and the pissing contest winner.
The difficulty of schedule is always harder to justify. Certainly 2 FBS games make it difficult but it depends on who those teams are. Is 1 FBS,1FCS,and 1 div.II more difficult than 2 ranked FCS and 1 Div.II ? I think someone linked the site of keepers college football ratings and he has the Big Sky schedule rank nationally like this
1.ISU
5.NAU
10.SSU
13.NCU
14.WSU
16.PSU
23.MSU
29.EWU
39.UM

Do some research. EWU Went 10-1 in 1997, with 8 D1 wins. That was the year we made it to the National Semifinals in the playoffs, losing to Youngstown State.

Re: What's the biggest Big Sky game in 2009?
Huge home opener for Sac State. Starting the season with two tough games on the road, the Hornets will have a bye before opening with EWU. Depending on how Sac State does in cal poly, this game may determine the course of the season. I have it as a must win.JALMOND wrote:First big game for each Big Sky school this year (my opinion)...
EWU---9/26 at Sacramento State---An opening conference road win for the Eagles would start this troubled year off right and get all the fans thinking about a special season.
ud davis opens at Fresno State the week before this game. They will be hurting heading into the Montana game. I'll be surprised if Montana doesn't run away with this one. ucd will then head to Boise State two weeks after this. It will be a long season for aggie fans.JALMOND wrote:UM---9/12 at UC-Davis---Last year the Aggies gave the Griz all they could handle early in the year at Missoula. Now the Griz take an unproven QB to Davis. The biggest hurdle before Halloween.
This will be the opener for cal poly and game #2 for Sac State. Hopefully Sac State won't get too beat up in Las Vegas the week before. cal poly lost a lot of key players on the offensive side of the ball and have a new head coach. I'm hoping Sac State can knock them off.JALMOND wrote:Sac State---9/12 at Cal Poly---The Hornets are a sleeper pick for some this year. How they do on the road against Cal Poly could give a good indication if they are for real or just hype.

Portland State wasn't I-AA until '98. If they did count as a Div. I win, then I guess I was wrong. My bad, maybe.
edit. Now I'm confused. PSU joined the Big Sky in '96 but CFB warehouse says they weren't I-AA until '98.

EWU has had 8 D1 regular season wins.
MSU has *NOT* had 8 D1 regular season wins. Got it?
Anyway.
The 5 BIGGEST games of the BSC 2009 season are:
Montana vs. Weber State
Montana vs. Eastern Washington
Eastern Washignton vs Weber State
Eastern Washington vs Montana State
Montana State vs Montana
All are of the same importance.

Re: What's the biggest Big Sky game in 2009?
Both right, sort of. PSU moved up from DII to the Big Sky in '96. As a result, was a transitional member of FCS (I-AA at the time) for two years (same thing as NDSU and Central Arkansas recently). I believe, tho, that all wins against PSU at that time were counted as DI wins, so I give the point to Scream.Catattack wrote:Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:

I was basically just wondering about it when the question came up and not trying to bash the eagles in any way. Besides, does it really matter who got 0 or 12 wins 12 years ago? 3 more weeks and we can let our respective teams do the talking.

So, for THEM, every week after their two FBS games is a playoff game. They lose, they're done.
September 5 at Wyoming .... tough road game
September 12 at Colorado State .... tough road game
September 19 Idaho State .... rivalry game...always tough
September 26 at Portland State .... rematch game always tough
October 3 Montana State .... top conference opponent always tough
October 10 at Eastern Washington .... top conference opponent/tough road game
October 17 Sacramento State .... good competition on the rise.. should win
October 24 at Northern Colorado .... should be able to win on the road
October 31 at Montana .... top NAtional oppoonent/very tough road game
November 14 Northern Arizona .... good competion.. should be a win
November 21 Cal Poly .... rematch game/tough OOC opponent.
red=possible loss for wsu
Look like Weber's schedule is harder than most wsu fans think it is.Los 4 of those games and its a wrap.
Weber State fans never said our schedule is easy, all we are ever saying is ITS WINABLE.

In all honesty I don't know if it's so much hatred as is it is annoyance and wanting to pick on you guys a little bit for the horn trumpeting. It's cool by me if you guys have high expectations but in reality you sound very similar to the EWU fans at this point last season. Not positive on this, but I think EWU has more wins against UM in Missoula than we do in Cheney. I think Eastern also holds the record for most wins in Wa-Griz for a visiting team. Last time we played there, Bagely and Carpenter bailed the Griz out. Should be a great game!AZGrizFan wrote:all I know is I LOVE the way the Griz schedule plays out....H/A/H/A/H/H/A H/A/H/A.
