Weber State ...........7-1 10-4 <--playoffs
Montana State .........5-3 7-5 <--7 wins... no playoffs

Seven DI wins is a guideline, not a rule, but realistically a team is not going to make the playoffs with less than seven DI wins. The Cats had seven wins last year but only six were DI because South Dakota was in transition and didn't count as a DI win. As far as the comment saying no BSC team will make the playoffs with only seven DI wins, bullsh!t (I realize that wasn't your comment BF). It has happened and not that long ago.

The difficulty of schedule is always harder to justify. Certainly 2 FBS games make it difficult but it depends on who those teams are. Is 1 FBS,1FCS,and 1 div.II more difficult than 2 ranked FCS and 1 Div.II ? Do some research. EWU Went 10-1 in 1997, with 8 D1 wins. That was the year we made it to the National Semifinals in the playoffs, losing to Youngstown State.

First big game for each Big Sky school this year (my opinion)...

EWU---9/26 at Sacramento State---An opening conference road win for the Eagles would start this troubled year off right and get all the fans thinking about a special season.

Huge home opener for Sac State. Starting the season with two tough games on the road, the Hornets will have a bye before opening with EWU. Depending on how Sac State does in cal poly, this game may determine the course of the season. I have it as a must win.

UM---9/12 at UC-Davis---Last year the Aggies gave the Griz all they could handle early in the year at Missoula. Now the Griz take an unproven QB to Davis. The biggest hurdle before Halloween.

ud davis opens at Fresno State the week before this game. They will be hurting heading into the Montana game. I'll be surprised if Montana doesn't run away with this one. ucd will then head to Boise State two weeks after this. It will be a long season for aggie fans.

Sac State---9/12 at Cal Poly---The Hornets are a sleeper pick for some this year. How they do on the road against Cal Poly could give a good indication if they are for real or just hype.

This will be the opener for cal poly and game #2 for Sac State. Hopefully Sac State won't get too beat up in Las Vegas the week before. cal poly lost a lot of key players on the offensive side of the ball and have a new head coach. I'm hoping Sac State can knock them off.

Well, Weber will start out the year 0-2, and with only 9 games left, it'll be an uphill climb. They'll lose in Missoula, which means if they lose a SINGLE other game, they'll be 7-4 and on the outside lookin' in come playoff time. So, for THEM, every week after their two FBS games is a playoff game. They lose, they're done.

September 5 at Wyoming .... tough road game
September 12 at Colorado State .... tough road game
September 19 Idaho State .... rivalry game...always tough
September 26 at Portland State .... rematch game always tough
October 3 Montana State .... top conference opponent always tough
October 10 at Eastern Washington .... top conference opponent/tough road game
October 17 Sacramento State .... good competition on the rise.. should win
October 24 at Northern Colorado .... should be able to win on the road

Not positive on this, but I think EWU has more wins against UM in Missoula than we do in Cheney. I think Eastern also holds the record for most wins in Wa-Griz for a visiting team. Last time we played there, Bagely and Carpenter bailed the Griz out. Should be a great game!
