Who Will Win the Missouri Valley Conference?

I'm just saying that I don't get how anyone can sincerely vote for a team that was 4-8 last year to overtake the perenial powerhouses in the league who look just as stacked as ever. This isn't a thread about darkhorses.

YSU went from 2-5 (4-7) in '04 to league co-champs at 5-2 (8-3) in '05.
Both UNI and SIU went from 2-5 years in '02 to being league co-champs at 6-1 in '03.

Such turnarounds aren't unheard of.

That being said, I still think both UNI and SIU will again finish at or near the top this season.

'02 was our coaches second year and so some weird things were bound to happen. I think bringing Heacock back as a mistake and I think he gets fired after this year.

Not unless they find a QB, and pronto, and probably not then. Both XDSUs still need a little more seasoning before they're ready to seriously contend for the MVC title. SDSU will be doing good to go 2-2 at home in league play.

I saw them play half a game with the star QB on the bench, and they still won in the Fargodome last year. And that's with Mertens playing a decent game to boot. Jacks are tough at home and they will get fired up and beat NDSU. UNI draws Hobo Days, which is the other toughest game to play at SDSU. SIU has the best chance to win at SDSU.

Hobo Days is the biggest reason I'm picking SDSU over UNI, but UNI could win, just my hunch for this year, FWIW.

Have the Jackrabbits chosen a starting QB yet? I don't know how you guys can say that when the only QB on the roster with any experience has been rehabbing a broken wrist this past offseason, and the other 3 QB's haven't taken a snap. I know it's your team and you want to have your hopes up, but be realistic.

If Berry doesn't come back and plays in the NDSU game last year, SDSU loses. After what happened with Walker leaving I will never underestimate the value of a great QB. I see a middle of the pack season for SDSU, but that is nothing new since every year they are a 6-5 or 7-4 type of team.

Personally, I love a good debate. I just prefer to hear good talking points, not just, "I like my team."
